Failed my 2nd test today, once again stupid things :(

As most of you know, i was going to buy a Fiat Grande Punto brand new as my first car.

My cousin has just said that she is selling her car, so i may go down and buy it TODAY :eek: Just want some opinions.

It's a W reg 2000 VW Lupo 1.4 Sport 3Dr 16v. Apparantly they only made 500 of these and they go quite quickly. It has had a new clutch, gear box and exhaust recently and has a full service history, and it's from my cousin :D Parkers says they are around £3k. I can get it for £1900, but should be able to get her to £1800 as i'm family.

Good deal you reckon? Going to keep it till after Xmas, and then go for my original idea of the Grande Punto.

Sound like a good idea/plan?

Much better idea than the stupid one of a £12k Punto on credit.

Have you ever been in a Lupo though? Ever driven one?
I would do these things first before even saying anything to your cousin.

Last time I was in one I literally threw up...

Drink + Harsh ride = SICK.

My friend uses a Lupo as his instructor car as it pretty much has no bonnet and no boot making the students feel more comfortable in it with regards to manoeuvres.
 
Not really the best option, think its more of a case of it just being there and being an easy choice. And if you had that money burning a hole in your pocket... Would you start up autotrader, ans search for a VW Lupo?

If its between a Lupo and New Punto on Finance, definately not the Punto.
 
My cousin (brother of the one who's selling it) is on his way to mine now and we are going to a few dealerships to see what is about.

So what should i have in my short list?

So far i have -

Fiat Punto
VW Lupo

Don't really want a 106 or saxo, look ugly and horrible to drive in my opinion.

Any other's i should be looking at?

Drove both, thought 106 was horrible. It is possible to drive cars without a license :)

What about a rover :p super cheap to run and fix after 14 years mine still is in good nick, and they are really cheap to buy too

Old Rovers fall to bits too often to be considered, really.
 
Haven't you ordered the Punto? And presumably signed the finance agreement? :confused:

Surely the garage won't be too pleased at you keep phoning and saying 'Sorry, failed my test again, don't want the car yet'?

I thought he had actually gone through with it all and had it sitting on his drive...

True. Mine's lost its side trims, side spats and various bits from the interior which some how managed to come lose, despite being held in by screws :p
