Those sites are ok for run-of-the-mill stuff. But I almost always get a better deal from a specialist. Better price, better terms.

I used to do the same.

Recently, no one has been able to beat compare the market for me. I even tried Adrian Flux, who I was with for over 5 years and they wanted triple.

My car is modified though. Try explaining things like chassis bracing to some clueless phone monkey in customer services :p

Most of the specialist ones actually know what they are talking about.

Always go through Quidco

Find the cheapest using a comparison site, but do it in incognito mode in your browser
Then go via Quidco, usually 60-100 quid in it for you
+1
what's the point in giving commission to meerkats/MSE, when, via quidco, you can have the money yourself.

Go compare offered me Admiral as the cheapest. I then went to Admiral directly and they were more expensive for the same policy.

And Go Compare give you free £250 excess cover. Can't moan at that.

I’ve had good experiences with them before. I think all the comparison sites do more or less the same. I do however find that quote prices vary based on how king until start date (about 3 weeks works best) and even day of the week, with midweek being best.
