Some sod, (well OK in know who it was) has hit my car, and took chunks of paint off the rear left side bumper. It was a 4 x 4, and he did it with his wheel etc.. I could see on his car, very faintly where he’d tried to remove the evidence. Company car park, CCTV doesn’t record the car park where my car was parked, I enquired about this.

Argue like I did, he isn’t admitting to it, some people have no morals. This is going to cost best part of £150 to get fixed, as it needs the entire bumper re spraying. I’d do it myself, but I’ve not got the correct equipment anymore. Unless I can use a hobby airbrush…

Not in a good mood now. Basically, tough luck as always, sometimes it makes you wonder why we buy nice motors, no one else seems to give a damn about them. I’ve always hated BMW X5’s, now I hate them even more.

If you can prove it is him, I'd insist on him admitting it. Contact the police etc if you have evidence it was him.

I hate people who just downright deny something when its obviously them.

try and get pictures of where the paint is on his car then get pictures of the damage on your car and tell him you will be taking it to the police or whoever and see what he says

I’ve already spoken with him, he isn’t admitting it and just says, if it was me I’d admit to it. I could take it to the police, but he wasn’t speeding, so they’d not be interested.

It really does make your blood boil, and the £150 is estimated, I bet it costs more then this to get the bumper repainted. It is only small chunks, wonder if I could just airbrush some touchup paint into the marks, and buff it out?

Hmm… Annoyed, but that’s people for you… Well not all folks are so dis-honest.

If it was private land then the police don't want to know i'm afraid. I'm in a similar situation with £400 out of my own pocket thanks to some low-life car-park hit n run.

I hate it when its obvious a car has hit yours and they deny it. I saw a woman pull up in a parking space next to my car, get out and have a look at the side of my car, get back in and hurridly drive off (nearly driving straight into another car) and park about 6 spaces further up the same row. I thought thats odd.

Anyway I get in my car and notice the wing mirror is bent in, I get out and see its also scuffed as is my bumper and bump strip. So I get back out and this woman is just getting out of her car, she instantly looks and me and then looks straight down at the floor so I call over "excuse me, have you just hit my car?" "I don't know what your talking about" slightly annoyed I said "yeah about 30 seconds ago before moving half a dozen spaces up, why did you do that anyway?" again I got "Look I don't know what your talking about and unless you've got a witness theres nothing you can do"

It turns out that she was wrong and that infact without a witness her wing mirror was still capable of coming clean off her car :o

There is no way I could just deny it, not if someone was to straight out ask me about it.

As much as I hate to admit it - i'd be too tempted to "get my own back" (assuming you are damn certain). He has an X5 so he isn't short of a a few quid and cannot even do the decent thing and pay for it.

I know. He knows it’s my car, hit it with a bloody great X 5 front wheel as he was obviously turning into the bay, and scratched my car, and took a few chunks of paint with it.

Denies it, I’m not even going to bother arguing anymore. Such is this country and the ludicrous police /criminal system I’d stand more chance of being rang by Honda and them saying

“we understand a Honda has been damaged, allow us to fix this for free, and have a Accord Type S for the time being to drive around in, as you car is being fixed”

That ain’t gonna happen anytime now is it..??

I’ve called a smart repair company that do mobile repairs; they reckon they can fix this for around £60. Not sure how they do this, but I guess they just blow some touchup paint into the marks, clear it and buff out.

If it masks or hides the marks, and looks OK, then this’ll do. It won’t rust, as it’s plastic. I’m still peeved though, hasn’t even got the guts to admit it. I really just wanted to smack the git in the mouth. But then I’d loose my job.

I’ll just have to stump up the £60 odd or whatever it does eventually cost me.

This will be a "smart repair/local" They should remove the gouges/scratches by sanding/flatting/filling depending. Key the surrounding area to be painted. Mask the area that needs spraying. Prime the affected area using a plastic primer if it needs it and maybe finish with a primer surfacer. Flat the primer if needed, apply the colour, apply clearcoat if needed, fade the edge of clear with fade out. Let dry with infa red lamp etc and if fade out was used it would normally need polishing with a fine compound to blend the edge into the old paint.

If I were you I would take pictures of the damage to your car and any evidance on your car, go and park your car next to his in such away that is is obvious that the new paint on his car and missing paint on your car are at the same height etc. Send them to your insurance company along with his registration number, report it to the police.

Im not sure what the outcome would be but I would atleast talk to them and see what they said.

Three Words:

  • Night Time
  • Balaclava
  • Revenge

If he can be a cruddy driver and not own up to it because hes a coward, then he obviously has no morals, explain what he has done in a language that he will understand.

itd be such a shame if you accidently scratched his X5 with say something like a zip from the laptop bag youre carrying as you tried to squeeze between the cars to get to your drivers/passengers side door...

Totally..

You should defo reep some revenge Mr OP, totally and definately. And if he asks about it, simply deny it :).

Nah wheres the gain in that, he's an idiot so you go and copy him..

Pity theres no one you can appeal to, keep an ear out and if it happens again at least you can add your experience and maybe get something done about him 'vandalising' cars

Don't you need to change the brake fluid on your car in the near future? Would be a shame if that was spilt on a specific X5 whilst you were taking it to be thrown away.

Is it metalic paint? I've touched up my car with my airbrush (aztek). Decanted the spraycan with a straw into one of the syphon jars. Must not thin it though and also you need a highflow nozzle.

Its great watching the propellant evaporate from the paint - it bubbles and fizzes like crazy.

Does it work though? Yes but make sure the surface is prepared properly (filled & sanded level with surrounding paint and primed). Then I just used t-cut to blend in the lacquer after a week and now you cant see any sign of it.
