Car not moving after getting stuff thrown at it

I wasn't the driver but I did panic so I expect the driver could have panicked too. However he swears that it was the car and not him.

In terms of why this happened, we were literally just driving past. He went on to jump in front of 2 other cars after we got moving. He must have been on something.

As for a real, non-sarcastic answer.

Does this car have the radar guided cruise control? If the dude was standing in front of the car or threw stuff at the front and hit on of the sensors... that could, conceivably stop the car or stop it from moving off again.

I just had a bit of a weird experience. We were driving and some nut job starts throwing gravel at us. The car just stops with the engine running and refuses to go, while this guy catches up to us and starts head butting the windows. After a while it decided to give us some drive and we get going.

I know jack about cars so I thought I'd ask you guys if this is a protective system or if there's another explanation. It's an automatic if that is any help.

getta LOL at the matter of fact way you describe a nutter head butting your car like its an every day occurrence.

So then, when do we get to know the full story behind his road rage incident ? did you cut him up ;)

and you would have been beaten senseless before you managed to open the bootlid.

Someone I know has a three foot bit of scaffold in the boot. So impractical as a weapon, esp if its got to be dug out the boot lol good luck explaining that to police too

Seriously there is no back story. This guy was just came running out of a house, picked up a hand full of gravel and went bananas. Not just at us but a few other cars too.

It happened in Wiltshire for those who asked. It's completely out of character for the area.

Thanks crinkleshoes for the non-sarcastic answer, I'll check it out.

Wasn't a council estate was it? A few years ago when taking a shortcut through a council estate some nutter ran out into the middle of the road ranting, raving and pointing. He soon jumped out of the way when I dropped a gear and floored it.

In a more serious answer i can't think the gravel has anything to do with your engine stalling. If there is indeed something wrong with the car, it will be co-incidence.
