Car taken without consent!

Bit of an odd one this. Our office car park has 3 buildings that use it. 2 of which own the land, the other, a Chinese restaurant, only has right of access.

We've long had issues with the workers from the coffee shop and bakery parking in certain areas of the car park and due to the layout, it's not possible to put up posts. There's effectively 3 car parking spaces in front of the Chinese but this was only ever meant to be a turning circle for deliveries.

After many arguments with the people parking on our land and them simply refusing to stop, I bought a knackered Merc A180 (the little people carrier things) and parked it on the edge of what is our side of the car park.

I was out of the office yesterday and got a call from colleagues to say the Merc was being dragged onto a flat bed and taken away. Car was badly damaged getting it on the truck.

I spoke with the lad taking the car and he said he was collecting his take-away the night before and asked about the car - it was an eyesore, I can't deny that :) and asked why it was there.

One of the Chinese - a particularly spikey one that often screams at us "This ar car park!" you'll have to imagine the accent.

Now she told this lad that the car had been dumped months ago and she didn't know who it belonged to and wanted it moving. She knows perfectly well who owns it and why it was there.

I wasn't angry, I found the whole thing highly amusing. The bakery is no longer there and coffee people park elsewhere now so I had been wondering what I was going to do about getting the car removed.

The lad kind of made the decision for me so I let him continue to take it. He really shouldn't have just taken the car on the Chinese girl's say so. There's a procedure before it can be removed. I know this.

However, I'm annoyed with the Chinese girl. I don't want to get the lad in trouble. He's lucky one of us saw him and discussed it or it would have been straight on the blower to the police.

Other than getting another nag and dumping it where the other one was, I'm wondering what I can do to get her back :D

Thoughts?

Not entirely serious, just thought I'd share.

Shipping container for handy outside storage, ideally a 40 ft one if it'll fit :p

Other than that, do they leave anything outside that needs moving? ;)

So parking is an issue between you all, and your solution was to buy a knackerd old car and park it in everyones way?
Yes, yes I did. :)

I parked a knackered old car on our land to stop randoms being lazy and cheap and not paying to park in public car parks. Effectively, said knackered old car was in our way, but it was our choice.

Yeah, why let them get away with it. If the lad doesn’t want to get in trouble don’t do things that you know aren’t right. Surely they should at least establish who the land belongs to and who the car belongs to (big ask I know for a towing company or similar things like private bailiffs).

My advise would be to grow up, stop being so petty and get a better hobby than winding up your neighbours. But I doubt that's the kind of answer you're looking for.

Poo through their letterbox.

So you wouldn't be upset when strangers parked their car on your land? Or your car was taken from your land without consent?

Cool, well done :)
Not in principle no, if there's space for everyone to park, which presumably there is if you're able to be petty and block a load of spaces with a ****heap eyesore.

Police matter number one for the theft of a motor vehicle.

The parking space debate is a civil matter and is actually more difficult to solve without taking action like the OP has.
Take this as someone who's car parking spaces were next to a school and were used by others on a daily basis.

OP, could you get some big concrete blocks like these?

What was actually happening was when one of the spaces was being used, it made access to one of ours difficult.

To be honest, it didn't bother me at first but after one particular argument I wasn't prepared to continue to let people park on our land.

Yes, this is the next option.

I'd handle it in a better way.
Oh? Do tell.

as the car was on your private land, was it even registered to you?

Yes, it's registered to me. I'll have to declare it being disposed off today.
