Car taken without consent!

You're all asking the wrong questions here tbh.

The correct questions are:

  • Can we have a whip round and buy you another car?
  • And - can we install a CCTV camera with a live stream to watch it pls?
 
If you're not reporting the car thief, I'm hoping for some trirony when he gradually steals every car from your car park. Was this his first time stealing? But nah he's just a "lad" right, so carry on.

they must have changed the law.
last i knew ,was they needed to have the document signed over to them as scrap, or a letter from the owner saying he gave permission for scrapping.
other than that even the council have to jump through hoops to remove a vehicle.
of course the guy may have been taking it to sell spares from it or if as you said he was paid by the chinese , maybe dump it somewhere else, (you being registered owner being responsible).
still water under the bridge as you have consented to removal.
