Car todo lists....

1) UK registration
2) Actually drive the damn thing
3) Add to to-do list

Actually saw it IRL for the first time today, still a couple of weeks before I can drive it though. :(

It has a foot operated handbrake which is probably going to result in my mistaking it for the clutch and crashing it at some point.

If they have been maintained properly they will last and last but mine had a patchy service history at best. Result is blocked cam spray bars wears the cam lobes which sends swarf round the engine which wears the big end bearing down which is whats knocking now.

Not fear it will be back with avengance Forged Internals, GT2871R etc circa 350 bhp :D
 
Is this a common problem with the 200sx or have you just been unlucky dude? :(

they tend to need rebuilding in the mid 100k mileage wise, seems to be the ~ life expectancy for the engine partly due to easily clogged oil feeds and partly due to the tuneing done to them.

The upside is that its only a little bit more expensive to add new internals what will take a much higher boost (doooo it!)

Not sure which 200SX he has but if it has the CA18 engine (found in the UK spec S13 models) then the big ends are basically a consumable, which causes problems if you don't catch them in time, but if you know what you are doing you can just replace the shells with the engine still in the car

The SR20 engine in the newer ones has a less common but far more annoying failure mode where some oil feed gradually clogs up over time and part of the engine gets starved of oil.

SR20DET i knew it had a rough life when i got it hence its cheap price when it did finally let go i was planning to do this anyway, i was hoping it would last a little longer than 25K though nevermind
 
Get alternator belt done (Friday)
Get rear bumper sprayed (22nd)
Fit new front shock, and maybe change the springs whilst I'm at it
Change plugs
Sort out the stone chips on the bonnet
Decide what to do with the alloys before the tyre tread runs out

Front Brakes (Discs and Pads)
Rear Brakes (Discs, Bearings & Pads)
Tyres
Speakers
Paint Correction
 
****ing **** .. now my chuffin clutch has started to slip.

Going to need replacing earlier than I though :o
