Car Wars

Yeh i thought something was gonna kick off on that estate. So he annoys the cops at the scene, assaults a coper and gets what 300 hours communty service was it? 6 months in the jail would have been better and would put people off starting on the police. ;)

12 month community rehabilitation order. Whatever the hell that is. Probably basket weaving.

I have nothing but respect for the cops on that show, but as stated the sentencing is a joke. It must be soul destroying to put the effort in they do only to see the government/courts/CPS/bleeding hearts undo it all.

Those lads do a brilliant job, it must be soul destroying though doing all that work and then finding out they get such pitiful sentances and are back on the streets doing the same thing again.

Paradigm, he wasn't saying it wasn't possible to get that kind of money, he was just suspicious of it, and rightly so. I'd rather be pulled over because someone didn't think it was my car and be on my way after a few checks than someone whos stolen my car drive past a police officer and not be stopped.

What I'm not liking is how quick they are to judge a young person in a fast car. I only look 19-20 (look young for my age), and to be quite honest, would take offence if an officer pulled me over and didnt believe me when I say its my car, that i've paid for.

But they were right. They deal with these people day in, day out - thats where their opinion comes from.

Most of us young guys cannot afford flash cars. A few can, and they acknowledged that.

Turns out he couldnt either.

I didn't get home until 2200, so I'm hoping it will be repeated :(.

A chap I know was in Staffordshire Police but he quit because he found it soul destroying that a lot of cases were being thrown out by the courts/CPS or people were being given pitiful sentences or even just fines.

I think I'd rather have police officers around that question things (even if they are mistaken now and again) as opposed to letting things go for fear of offending somebody. Then again its easy for me to say that, I've never had any hassle because I don't drive anything flash.

I agree, there's a program on tomorrow at 9pm (on Ch4) that I intend to watch - Despatches: Undercover copper. Apparently it's about how changes in government policies and how the affect the police aswell as how some officers behave on duty.

I thought that they were pretty respectful in the circumstances. He then told a story that was cleary ropy, which is why they then arrested him. If he'd been the legal owner then a two minute PNC check would have cleared him and he'd have been on his way.

And the guy who was sounding off at the police was actually sentenced for assaulting a police officer - which makes his punishment even sillier. Imagine how coppers feel trying to control a crowd when they know that any idiot who lamps them is just going to spend a few hour removing grafitti from walls.

Thats not my point, my point was they were far too quick to judge (speaking mainly about the kid in the 3-series). I have no problem with being pulled over (not that I ever have been), but i'd like a bit more respect, and a little more trust than just a simple, "no way you have ever owned that much money".

They didn't say that at all though did they?

His words were "He doesn't seem to have the financial means..." (i have it recorded). A lot different to 'there's no way you can afford this'. They never said that. He even said that he wasn't saying young people can't have this sort of money, implying that 9 times out of 10 they don't.

Just let the police do their job imo, most of the time a 17, 18, 19 year old in a brand new 3 series will look suspicious and the police are right to pull them over. If your lucky enough to drive a nice car then accept that in modern times the police need to pull you over. And there is no evidence from that show to suggest they will be anything less than respectful provided you're respectful back.

I was stopped by the police yesterday at about 2am (and i defintely don't have a flash car). He asked me where I was going, i told him home, he obviously knew I wasn't your typical car thief (being respectable and all that :p), he apologised and i was on my way.

These shows always make me think about becoming a police officer because it seems like such a great job, but i couldn't deal with the low pay :p.

Shoddy sentences as per usual though. I wish we would take a harder stance on crime.

@ the guys bugging the police. I think they should get done for helping a criminal or whatever it would be called. Its on film them saying it and it would shut them up for sure!

I did think the bigger A-hole was gonna scrap with the big copper. I wish he did so he coulda been floored and made look like a sissy :o

Everything needs to be made more strict. I do no wrong so it wouldnt get in my way,as long as they show you respect back when you give them it.
Only things i do wrong are, riding bike on pavement, riding a bit dangerously on the road,drinking....so im cool. :p

Welcome to Manchester!

Tonights installment was a good follow up to the older X-cars series from a few years ago. The sentencing was laughable and makes me mad .

The Honda Civic in the opening sequence was on the M60 through the middle of Stockport during rush hour - there's usually a queue of traffic where he "exited" the motorway as it splits into the M60 and M56 shortly after.

I loved X-Cars! Remember seeing on where they were litterally round the corner from my house..
