*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I was wondering the same yesterday as I sprayed my wheel arches with mud after getting stuck this week.
In my home country they have ramps at car wash places where the person can get underneath and wash the underside.

Something like this.

Need to give the Mini a good wash next weekend. One thing I’ve learnt, a dark colour is quite unforgiving in the summer, perhaps more so than my previous white car. However, when it’s wet and dark in the winter, the many layers of grime actually don’t look too bad vs my white car that looked terrible the whole winter.

I've found "dull silver" is incredibly forgiving!

Good for reaching to the far ends of the screen. I've seen them recommended before and you could always cover it with a decent microfibre or glass cloth if it's own cloth isn't great.

Some advice/recommendations please guys, I've got a Nilfisk, C130 I think and my trusty old foam spray unit which must be at least 15 years old by now could do with replacing! It does a job, just not a very good one any more. When I got it from DW it was one of the few available, but now there seems to be a million! I would like another one to last me a while if possible, and although not a deal breaker, if I can change the adapter to allow it to fit my DeWalt battery powered pressure washer that'd be good.

I’ve got one of those autobrite ones on a nilfisk e160 and it’s been doing the job for a good few years now. No idea how it stacks up to today’s offerings, but it is a quality made bit of kit.

I had the Nilfisk C110, I had this foam cannon which I used a couple of times.

If this fits yours I will post it to you for free. I just threw the old pressure washer in the tip. Let me know :)

Used BH touchless for the first time today. It’s such a wet dark winter the car doesn’t really show the dirt up much and I don’t want to do a contact wash. Touchless really lifts off the dirt. New lance puts it on thick too.

Went to car wash today and machine was broken

I really need to move mine inside before the next cold spell.

Is the whole process a lot quicker? I find it a real faff to get the hose out, run an extension, setup the jet wash, etc. at this time of the year.

If this stuff removes the worst of it in much less time, it would be a major win.

It removes a lot without having to touch the paint. I often time it with the rain so it gets a free rinse removing any possible water marks.

Washing the car today and planning to use BH touchless too. Last time, I used it for the first time and did a contact wash after using it. I was also thinking whether just BH touchless was enough because when it comes to drying with a towel, wouldn't you be swirling the paint if you skip contact wash? As BH touchless doesn't remove 100% of the dirt.

No you shouldn’t use it then towel dry the car.

Nothing removes as much dirt as a contact wash.

The benefit of touchless is that it removes more dirt before the contact wash - minimising the amount of mechanical work required to get the car clean.

@CaptainRAVE uses it as a maintenance clean when raining so that he doesn’t have to dry the car.
