Carabao Cup - Fourth Round ** Spoilers ** [20th - 22nd December 2022]

This game had upset written all over it. Burnley in good form, localish derby. United not played for over a month, players back from WC, some injuries. However, it's been pretty plain sailing aside from Dbravka and McSauce's occasional buffoonery. Not quite celebrating the win but quite happy with how its gone.

Yeah against a better team who took their chances this would be very different.

Plus a former City man in charge!

We've looked a lot better than I expected us to actually, our play has been pretty nice.

They've not.really had many decent chances....especially considering our makeshift back line.

Surprisingly good performance considering the break.

Would be a lot more comfortable without McSauce giving the ball away every 5 minutes.

They got in some reasonable positions that you'd expect better teams to do well from. Regarding the makeshift back line, i reckon it's still better than if Maguire was in it.

Literally just had another chance from a Casemiro mistake.

Hopefully this game helps to shake off the cobwebs!

Lovely goal from Rashford last night and the first goal was nice too. Bit shaky defensively but thats to be expected with a bit of a makeshift team. AWB looked pretty miserable even after assisting the goal and I think he might be off.

Not a clue what to expect from us and City tonight. With the WC just gone and fixtures to come, it wouldn't surprise me if both sides put out weakened sides but equally I wouldn't be surprised if one or both fielded strong sides too.

The most annoying thing about drawing City is it makes it less likely that we'll see a few of the academy players. My view on the League Cup is not to care about it until you reach the final but it's always good to see the next generation coming through. Had we not been playing City I'm sure the likes of Bajcetic, Doak and Clark would have started tonight.

Could be, yea. I'd really like to see Bajcetic play in a match like this. Obviously it's a huge step up from being a talented kid to playing first team football for a club like Liverpool but he looks like he's got what it takes to make that step.

Kelleher, Milner, Matip, Gomez, Robertson, Bajcetic, Elliott, Thiago, Carvalho, Nunez & Salah. Pleased but also a bit concerned for Bajcetic - it's going to be a huge test of where he is coming up against Rodri, KDB & Gundogan, particularly as we're likely to be out numbered in midfield given how Elliott plays on the right.
