Carabao Cup - Round of 16 ** Spoilers ** [31st Oct - 1st Nov 2023]

Yet Lampard (not a great manager but he knows midfielders), Tuchel, Potter all played him, Klopp wanted him, and Ten Hag signed him. With respect, I trust their opinions over yours.
He’s in the wrong team, Mount in an energetic midfield like Newcastle’s would thrive, the problem is Mount is in a midfield that’s about as energetic as a 98 year old asthma sufferer after 20 cigarettes.

Now you are being ridiculous. We finished 3rd reached 2 finals and won a trophy last season with that back four despite still being weak in other places. The players are shot and it starts from the back. The two major injury periods that VVD had were massively impactful on Liverpool and thats one player. We've lost arguably all our back four and had to resort to playing a SPurs reject, Magaluf and Dalot.

Klopp should have seen that midfield situation coming as most of the fan base saw it the previous season yet he was signing more attackers. Anyway I'm not comparing Klopp to ten Hag. That would be facile - all I'm saying is that sacking him is not the answer until you at least assess him over the rest of the season.
You hardly played anyone in the run to the final then you played Newcastle where you were outplayed. Finished 3rd when Liverpool and Chelsea took the season off as for signing Spurs rejects...yes because you spent 140 million on Mount and a striker with a handful of appearances and Antony for 95 (Transfrmarkt) meaning you were hamstrung by FFP. That's poor management, that's on ETH. Im NGL i dont know who Magaluf is so cant comment, im thinking its Maguire

We saw the midfield problem but nowhere near what it was, the season before we were challenging for a quadruple! Klopp has credit, he had a season and a window to rectify it and now our midfield looks as good as anyone elses.

Chelsea have taken a few season off to be fair and it seems every second season Liverpool have a season off. :D

Do agree with the point youre making though.

I should clarify, Mount is a good player but he isn’t for where Man Utd should be and the money they paid for him. If Utd are happy being a mid table side (which I think they are now) then yeh sure he is good enough.

Manchester United have lost 8+ of their first 15 games in a season for the first time since 1962-63 (9), while they've lost five of their first 10 at home for the first time since 1930-31.

They finished 3rd the season before last and had finished top 4, 4 times in a row.

I agree about Mount, he is a good player, he's better then mid table though and was a large part as to why Chelsea won a CL BUT you have a player playing in his best position and he's your captain. Seemed like a daft signing and it would have been better spent elsewhere.

That stat is damning.

It's Maguire and Lindelof. = Magaluf
The club may be incompetent but that doesn't mean ten Hag is. All managers make signings that the fans question or dont work out -Keita? Simikas? Shaquiri? Ox? Nunez didn't really look £85m worth last season.
The point on our first choice back four is that they play ten yards further up the pitch than the others. He wanted Maguire out and Kim min Jae in but the club couldn't do it so got left with 2020's back four. Onana and Mount were the next part of the puzzle to help progress the ball quicker but that's all out the window because the Maguire and Lindelof cannot play that way. Anyway I'll never win an argument with you so lets leave it at that.

Tsmikas and Shaqiri were peanuts. Nunez was 64 mil and absolutely looks worth it. Youre comparing that with 90+ mil Antony lmao.

Newcastle are being made to work for their league cup. Chelsea away.
