I'm having this problem too... just installed an x1800xt yesterday and in some situations, like 1% of the time, my mouse doesn't seem to respond for 1/2s or so. This didn't happen on my old x800Xt.
Might also be cos your running on higher settings/playing different games than you were with the X800 and running out of system memory, is the hard drive active during the mini crash? How much memory do you have?

hi, ordered a connect 3d 256mb x1800xt today from ocuk and now worrried its not gonna run on my pc after reading it's power hungry thing, specs are

p4.3ghz prescott
asus p5rd1-v mobo
enermax liberty 400w psu
audigy 1
1gig ram
1 dvd rw
1 dvd rom
80gig hd

is ther a chance of damaging anything if psu doesnt have enough juice to run it, as i could just wait a few days and buy a better wattage psu from overclockers

nope it will just power off when you power on lol, as the circut protection overload will kick in.. if not it should just still power off....
im 99% sure though that you wont have enough juice to power that Xk1 card.

I wouldn't worry about it. I think it should power it fine.
I have a very old Antec 400W atx v1 psu. This is powering my X1800XT, overclocked amd dual core, tv card, wireless card, 2 hard drives, 3 fans, 1 dvdrw drive.

Question guys , ive got a hardly used jeantech 350watt PSU and ive just checked the sticker , it says the +12v rail has 16a , this is obviously more than my 12a PSU , do u think it would be worth installing that even tho its only 350watt ?

edit: typo

Perhaps, more Ampage on the 12v is always good.

As regards a new power supply, I can heartily recommend a Hiper Power style PSU. I have the 580Watt None Type R variety (doesn't have the fancy modular connectors) and runs my Power hungry PenD 805 which at 3.6Ghz its been seen to each 150+ watts of power!! :D

I have a X1900GT which a little beastie of a card, and I through it into the mix in my current setup without a problem.

Any one else wish to comment on me installing the jeantech 350watt PSU ? , it would be good if a couple more offered advice as i dont wish to blow up my new mobo and graphics card :D

Lol i tried my estimated power consumption for a highly clocked E6300 and x1900xt, and it came out near 700W. Lol theres no way im gonna need that much juice :p

Yeah i tried that awell and it said 320watt lol

It might work, 16A still isn't great though. Your best off buying a new PSU, something like Seasonic S12 430 Watt isn't that expensive and would do the job.

Aye i know i need to buy a new one and when i have the cash i will BUT i have a x1800xt sat here in a box not being used coz of my current PSU issues , if this 350watt will work abit better than my current one then i'll install it till the new one is ordered

and thats why i want to know if the jeantech will be ok as a temporary measure :)

If youre running the X1800XT on a lower power PSU allready, then changing to this PSU can only be an improvemnt.

well i tried it and had no joy what so ever , BSOD and system lock ups so i took it out , looks like i'll either have to ask the missus nicely for a new one or save some pennys :(

my x1800xt that i got today is running ok on my enermax liberty 400w psu, but will get a more powerful one soon, its ok for now but my psu's life may shorten cos of it and i'd rather not have it failing on me.
