Carling Cup Football. Yes, Spoilers...

I wasn't expecting anything from Liverpool tonight really. I knew it was just going to be a run around and a time to rest the big boys, however what this game is doing is highlighting how utterly weak our new summer additions to the squad are in defense.

Dossena and Degen are simply woeful beyond all comprehension. Dossena is like a coal train getting started, he's also mentality 5 seconds behind the play. Degen, to be fair hasn't played at all, however what amazes me is that he's training in football everyday. I've honestly seen better secondary school kids hold their position better than him.

Put on Aurelio and Arbeloa and the game would be completely different.

EDIT: Got to say though, I like the look of Bale. He's one player I'd certainly have in our 1st team.
 
Really looks like the 'pool players just don't care, Spurs are far more up for it, as they should be as defending champions! But then again if their focus as it seems this year is on the league and champs league, then not really surprising they aren't going full out in this cup.

Hyypia is still one of our strongest and best set-piece defenders. Along side Skrtl he was one of our best performing defenders last season.
