Ten Hag came to the club with a history of being a disciplinarian.
We oughta bear in mind, ETH was human too and as such will be influenced by the environment as much as he can influence it. 'You are what you eat'. We see it with good players who come, perform well then sink into the same problems.
For me, ETH and Amorim were not the problems. ETH unfortunately was chomped up by the original disney land nonsense approach from the Arnold/Woodward ilk and the players of this era and what that brought. Amorim should have been stuck by, he was making his way through as being a disciplinarian and was getting rid of some of the chuff, like Rashford and Maguire. Bruno, Dalot and Shaw (who subvertly are crippling the team) would be phased out and we'd have had a healthier platform to go from with players who have had a consistent authoritarian and tactician from the start.
Instead we buckled again, and even went for the Fergie hangover beer 'Hair of the dog United DNA' with Carrick rather than weathering the discomfort and staying the course to sobriety.
Change is rarely fast though, so we'll keep doing cycles of the same ****, 1 step forward, 0.75 steps back
