Carrick Out?

Just the latest episode of the mind-bending insanity going on at boardroom level.

I am lost for words. Their hand will almost certainly be forced after the Chelsea game. And after that, the fixtures don't get any easier.

We're going to be in the bottom 3.

Was thinking Howe might not want anything to do with the job

This makes me think more so

Unless contract "stuff" is taking a long time...

But I actually think what I thought originally about him not wanting the job (who could blame him) is probably true
i cant imagine many managers want to take this dire squad to chelsea on their first game.

This was what I thought as well. That the guy to replace Carrick simply doesn't want to come in until the international break but it seems the club are now briefing the media that none of the choices were felt to be right for the club. If so, mind blown. Thats essentially a vote of no confidence in the managers that would likely be replacing Carrick. Thats shooting yourself in the foot for absolutely no reason if true. Carrick will have to go or we genuinely could get relegated. Even with Amorim in his first season finishing 15th I never thought we were going to get relegated but I genuinely think Carrick could do it.

Based on weekends performance, relegation is very real!

To be fair I can see why they are underwhelming, I mean look at what Conte has achieved as a manager compared to Carrick.

Wait.. hang on.

This is criminal negligence from Wilcox, I can only assume Ratcliffe must be demented and Wilcox and Berrada are Man City operatives intent on destroying the club.

I actually hope we do get relegated.

I'm at the point where I genuinely have no idea what is going to happen. They actually might try to stick with Carrick until the end of the season under the guise of wanting to go for someone like Emery at the end of the season. They might think this blind faith in Carrick shows strong leadership and an unwillingness to cave to external pressure or short term thinking.

Could be that none of the managers like Howe/Nagelsmann or Conte would actually take the job until Jan. Could be that none of them wanted it without guarantees of spending in Jan. Could be that United want an interim until the end of the season before they go all in on another manager.

Who the **** knows. I have zero faith in their ability to make sensible choices on anything.

All I know is, they will surely be forced to act if we're bottom of the league and the players have downed tools. And that is only a week or two away.

They might just be trying to get to the international break, I honestly can't believe they won't get rid of him for Howe at the very least.

Or are they really actually just this stupid and clueless. Who knows.

Feel like it all boils down to money and them trying to show player power (because they’ve essentially downed tools) isn’t going to work this time. But again, I’m just baffled they’ve gone this route with Carrick of all people. But if he’d ’done an Amorim’ he’d be out the door.

Thing is, I would maybe respect them standing up to the players if the manager was actually someone good. Carrick has to take his share of the blame here too.

Absolutely the wrong time to do it.

Exactly! As I mentioned yesterday, this narrative that it’s solely down to players and the execs is baffling. Carrick is plain old ****.

Consider yourself lucky if Howe turned you down, because it means you've been spared the sight of Jason Tindall sprinting up and down the sidelines every other week, fake tan glowing and teeth so bright they could guide in aircraft.

United: "Eddie, my man, we've had a good think and we do want you to be the next United manager. Congratulations!"
Howe: "Didn't you brief the media that me, Julian and Antonio weren't good enough for the position a few weeks ago?"
United: "Hmm, that does sound like us but I don't think so, you must be misremembering"
Howe: "Hmmm"
United: "Any any rate, welcome to the club Unai, I mean Eddie!"
Howe: "I ******* knew it!"

I guess the board are just not willing to admit they got it wrong yet, their poor poor egos. Doubling down all the way to zero.

Sometimes I wish Fergie would walk down from the stands and start shouting orders at the players, after pushing our current manager out of the way.

Unbelievable. The poor bloke is going to be crucified in the pre-match press conference this week.

Nah, the media have had their kid gloves on the whole time with Carrick and still do. There was never any nasty headlines or real pressure from the media towards Carrick. It was always the suggesting that it was just building but not terminal. That it was the club and the players, never Carrick. Poor sweet Carrick. What could he possibly do in the face of that. What can any manager do to affect results on the pitch?
