The PC-7 is about the worst case for noise he could choose unless he intends to spend time and money on noise prevention measures such is hd isolation mounts & acoustic lining.
The p180 is no quieter than any other case. It is however very cramped and over engineered and has some nasty design flaws. The Eclipse62 or PC-7 would be better choices.
I would have to agree. After seeing a fully kitted up P180 I would hate to work in the thing.
Buy a Stacker 810, it's huge and has more spaces in case you want to add hard drives. Since you already have four it sounds you have quite a bit of data, and more to come. The Stacker will take several more hard drives. A full tower doesn't take any more floorspace, and does it matter it's a few inches higher? No.
I have two optical drives, and two CM modules. I might replace the 80GB PATA with another SATA for boot as that is on the same channel as the writer.
I had a P180 and got fed up about the noise i had to put up with! I ended up putting my rig in an 8 year old steel server case with massive sides you'd expect would resonate badly! In actual fact the PC is now whisper quiet with a couple more 38mm deep panaflo 120mm's!
The point is that the P180 was designed to surpress noise and be as quiet as possible whilst cooling well! In actual fact i found that it was very cramped and resonated badly! You can only go off your own or others experiences of cases and how well they perform (noise/cooling) and then make a decision!
I'm inclined to believe the majority of OCUK member's posts. From what i've read over the years the Akasa 62 and PC7 have always been highly regarded while the P180 (as i too have found) is generally identified as a dissapointment!
If i could choose again i'd definately get the Eclipse!
@Mort3k: Have a look for yourself and see what you think! We can only offer advice! Your personal preference will make the final decision!
Hm touchy subject really...Some would say you can get away with it, and some say you couldnt...It really does depend on how well the air is going through, and how close the rear fan (And maybe even a top fan in some cases) is.
But if you dont want noise from the Scyhte, just stick a 90mm on a fan controller or something, get the rite noise vs temp situation and your sorted.
Although i dont personally know how much hotter the 6700's get from stock to being on full load.
lots of people have had poor quality with panels not fitting etc
and for £150 odd you dont expect that plus the fan layout is crap all coolermaster have done is throw fans at the problem
