I am wanting to spend up to £50, maybe even £40, being really tight, on a case and a PSU, I am unsure what wattage is needed for a Phenom II 965 although it is 125w version, and also a ATi 5770.

I was told 400 could theoretically run it, 450 could run it fine.

I want to overclock CPU, Graphics and possibly RAM(8gb 1600MHz standard DDR3 12800), I am not sure if 500w is enough... anyone?

I'm no expert but £40 for a case alone is pushing it - let alone to include a decent PSU!!

Remember, your PSU is the most important piece of your whole system - not worth scrimping on in my opinion!

Forget it until you have saved up more money. For a half decent case and a quality psu you are looking at a minimum of £80. Never, ever skimp on a psu as it is the single most important component in a pc. Buy a cheap one and when it fails it will likely take the rest of your system with it.

For a baseline idea of cost these are the cheapest, decent ones on here:-

Cooler master Elite 334.

Corsair CX400.

Bear in mind that it's best to spend more on a case as it's going to be staring you in the face for the life of the pc. Plus, if you buy a decent one now you can always upgrade the components inside it when the time comes and keep the same case.

i say the least you're looking at is OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w or Corsair VX 550W which both come in around £64.99

although a decent quality 500w psu might do but then you're still looking around £50-60 anyway

I am good at finding bargains, but I will try to keep the PSU and case issue in mind, see the prices of all other things I have listed and see what I can do with money, I have more money.. I just don't like spending so much.

I need a high performance PSU rather than a standard PSU... regardless of the wattage?

Lol finding deals, its called google and ebay not to hard
But trust me, skimping on PSU is the worst idea ever.....
Get a corsair PSU and a cheap oc value case....

You couldn't even get second hand with that budget, do not buy a cheap psu! They are full of fail.

I think I will start a new general thread in a minute, with basically.. everything I want to use in a new system
