ok, im wanting to get a new case as im getting bored of mine lately. i have a few criteria that need to be met though, and would like some recommendations please.

so the case MUST:-
be black
not have a door
be of atx orientation
be mid atx size
not cost more than £90 inc delivery
definately not have them bubble tube things

not essential, but preferable:-
windowed side panel
have psu mounting at the bottom of the case

thats about all i can think of right now, but if i get anything else i will add it.

thanks.

be full atx size
Are you sure you want this? Full ATX towers are quite huge. Most cases are what're known as ATX-mid. They're much less ungainly in size.

EDIT: Example of an ATX case:

oops.

yeah, mid atx sounds good. i just got confused coz my brothers pc is a lot smaller than mine, and assumed mine was full and his was mid. obviously not!!

EDIT: i currently have a thermaltake xaser V, so the same size as that.

I suggest a Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black for £48.99 (£57.56 inc vat at 17.5%) and a Lian-Li PC-60/PC-7 Window Side Panel - Black for £18.99 (£22.31)

It's a great case in which I find it a pleasure to work. :)

If you want to take the cheap option, I've been pleasantly surprised by my Akasa Zen... It does benefit from a bit of monkeying about- I slung an extra fan behind the hard drives pointing at the processor and ram, and an extra 120mm as an intake behind the grill on the side panel pointed at the graphics card. Plus I did my usual bodge of removing the leftover pci covers and fitting an 80mm extract there. So a wee bit of work, but it does work very nicely, and it was dirt cheap. I like its looks as well, simple but effective. No buzzes or rattles, and it's easy to open and close.

so the case MUST:-
be black - Thinks black LianLi
not have a door - Thinks PC7

be mid atx size - Still thinks PC7
not cost more than £90 inc delivery - Yup, Still thinking PC7
definately not have them bubble tube things - No bubbles here

windowed side panel - PC7 can have windowed sidepanel
have psu mounting at the bottom of the case - Ok, now you just went and ruined the whole PC7 thing. Your asking for a PC7 with the PSU at the bottom, or a P180 without a door, or a v1000 at under £90, or a A10 in stock and under £90. :(

Have you looked at the Lian Li V600B? It fits most of your criteria, but as far as I know, you cannot have a windowed side panel. It is a superb case though, same build quality as the V1000, but almost half the price. And I actually think it looks sexier.

If you are getting one, I would definitely recommend the Lian li drive stealthing plates.

Piccies of mine... I know it looks pretty busy in there, but it's pretty full - 4 3.5" HDD, 2 optical drives and a combo 3.5" floppy/card reader.

ok, so the consensus is a lian li case then!

had a look at them and they look good, especially with them stealthed drives! im really quite liking the v660b, but having seen how the psu sits im not entirely convinced my thermaltake tower heatpipe is going to fit in there. if anybody can give an idea as to whether or not it will fit i would be grateful.

No, it won't. It needs a low profile cooler. If you look in the photograph you can see I'm using a Thermaltake Blue Orb 120mm cooler. It's very good in this situation. I'm running an E6600 overclocked to 3.6GHz with that cooler, so performance isn't an issue.

Are there just 2 120mm fans in the V600? Looks like it, but wanted to check.

ok, so now seriously contemplating increasing my case allowance and getting the v1000.

question though, can the wheels be removed?

Of course. I think they are hideous, but they are remarkably handy.

Personally I think you would be making a very wise move there, The v1000+ is a superb case and likely to last a very long time.

I concur. I have one of them too - the Koolance PC3-725 version and it is my favourite case over £100.
