CAT 7.2's OUT

Had to unistall 7.2 would not enable crossfire, when it did you shut down or do a reboot it would loose the settings. Reinstalled several times, running 7.1 now without any problems.

I have the same problem with crossfire sadly. What is more when I tried downloading the CCC from 7.1 and enabling crossfire still using 7.2 drivers, games don't load for me, they just hang. Very disappointing, I guess I will have to revert.

Unfortunately uninstalling and installing 7.1 doesn't seem to have helped either... have to try uninstalling again I guess.

Running XP PRo here and I have had in unistall 7.2

It kept popping up with two ATI CCC icons in the taskbar and coming up with a Windows Error citing NOD32 as the problem ?? WTF ??

Gone back to 7.1 rock solid for me.

The drivers seem to work for me its just the CCC that crashes as soon as the comp logs into windows, ive even jujmped into the ccc folder and clicked all the .exe files but they all give errors :(

Porbably worth a thread on it's own but I'll post it here so all who read it can be wary. Bare in mind I'm only blaming ATI/AMD for this one.

I used the Catalyst Install Manager (whatever it's called anyway) to uninstall the newest drivers and reinstall the old ones. After uninstalling I restarted and when I was back at the logon screen the keyboard and mouse wouldn't work. After no end of messing around I decided it was time to reinstall.

So basically it looks like the cat install manager managed to bork my usb drivers.

Now I've taken to manually installing the drivers and stearing will clear of any crappy install managers they come out with.

This was my first major niggle under Vista :(

installed the new cats on my spare machine which only has a 9800 pro in it and all works fine can get the advanced no problems.

still only the basic on my x1950xtx really weird,

Installed on my x64 Vista Ultimate install and no problems. Load up time is awesome and it does exactly what it says on the tin!

I dont know if anyone has notcied but the ccc gets installed into the startup folder but i just delete it,and it seems to solve any problems with the cat loading properly

these drivers added 14 degrees to my x800 gpu temps!

rolled back to 6.9 and gpu temps are back to normal

jeez - what are they playing at???

it was slow pre 7.2 cats, almost instant now with 7.2. within 3-5 secs even on my older xp3200+ X800 machine.

for something that only gets accessed maybe once when drivers are updated, it doesnt really matter to much how long that one access takes.

To the ones having lots of crashs and temp increases , 7.2 and 7.1 has a habbit of messing with the fan speeds... I do have ati tray tools that puts it to max but i have seen it drop to 10% or 30% even during games. It was a lot worse with 7.1 this doesnt happen with 6.12 and below

hmm i have ATI tool too and i always put my fan on 100% (i have good headphones that block out sound ;) and an HIS super duper cooling thing on my card)

i will look tonight but i didnt notice any huge temp increase in ati tool... as i have just cleaned out all the dust in my PC (took forever) lol

left the 7.2 drivers in there and just used the old 7.1 ccc.

get an extra 10-15fps on graw whic im happy with.

no extra crashes temps are the same still ere on my x1950xtx

Is there an equivalent tool for setting fan speed with nVidia cards? nTune doesn't seem to do it.

It's **** slow boatware that's what. CCC would be far quicker if it didn't use .net.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. Read up on memory managment of .net orientated languages such as C Sharp and tell me that .net is bloat. .NET is like every other language, poor implementation of it can always happen.

C sharp is slower than C++ and .net is much slower than win32. Not talking about development time, but execution speed, given equal expertise in each language.

...but anyway, nice to see CCC starting up quicker now, but I've had to uninstall 7.2 and go back to 6.10 due to Oblivion hanging 20x more often and CCC hanging regularly under 7.2/7.1 which is a shame. Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon.
