Cat caught a bird....

It's nature, open the door and chuck it (gently) back outside then carry on with your life.
 
I kept a sparrow for 5 days, it had been attacked by a cat ... Fed it soggy bread dipped in meal worm.

Kept it in a large bowl with grass on one side and dry tissue the other.

It stayed up all day and went to sleep at night. Kept feeding it every hour or so, i even took it to work with me. On the last few days when it was getting stronger i put it in the garden (in a large box) and its parents were coming down to feed it. It kept trying to fly so i held it on my hand and it flew away and hit the fence lol, i then picked it up again and it flew away in to the trees.

So its worth a go trying to look after it

It seems quite young if it's opening it's mouth.

Just feed it some cat food with chop sticks, wet or dry (make the dry food wet).

Can you spot any blackbirds calling?

Seems like a rather friendly chap which is nice. My cat brought in a blackbird once and it was a terror, riddled with mites too.
 
My cats bring stuff in all the time - in my last house it was bloody fully grown rabbits, and in this one it's magpies. If the thing is still alive I find it's kindest to allow the cat to finish it off.

I have a phobia of dead birds, and they turn my stomach so I am glad I have had my breakfast before reading this thread.

Wait 'til it drops a full size rat at your feet in the kitchen, that you then pick up thinking it's dead that then proceeds to bite the end of your finger before you drown it in the water butt.

Trip to A&E for a tetanus injection in the thigh!

We've had 8 rabbits in the past week here, 2 were adults rest were clearly just exploring for the first/last time. I wouldn't mind but the cat eats their legs, tail and face and leaves me with the rest.
 
I found two 1-2day old chicks outside my front door this morning. Needless to say they were both dead after falling 2 stories onto concrete from the roof. Mother bird just stares out of the nest and doesn't move :o

But it back in the garden in a hedge, if its a baby it will either be found by a parent or it will die or give it to the cat, he will be very grateful. Stop pussyfooting around it.

You've been here long enough - OcUK General Discussion is filled with seemingly..."strange" individuals who take great pleasure from dropping bricks on small animal heads/feeding small animals to cats/or other sadistic torture.

Good to see it's doing well! Do you know how far it's come?
