cat kill rabbit

my cat has never brought me home a rabbit, though has brought home a good few birds. Ill let him off with leaving the rabbits as he has been in 4 car accidents and now his tail don't work and he only has half a pelvis.

My last cat used to bring a magpie in nearly every week. Magpies are a danger because they like shiney things and tend to go for the eyes.

A fox probably would kill a cat, but the cat would have to be really slow or ill. Foxes = bigger and stronger. But they aren't anywhere near as agile.

Same situation with Cat vs Squirrel. Most times a squirrel will leave a cat in its dust.

My current cat likes bringing in big fat hairy moths and playing with them... before eating them. She also brings in the odd mouse from time to time. She hasn't bagged a bird yet [at least not brought one in! :p]

One of my cats killed a big squirrel but only once, he left it at the bottom of the stairs and my wife had to call my mum around to move it before she would come down the stairs. We are getting loads of presents this time of year mainly mice and young birds though.
 
My mums old Tom cat used to fight foxes. He came home with a large hole in the side of his neck a couple of times. One of the fights took its toll though. If I remember correctly he got some sort of disease from one of the foxes and had to be put down. This is going back a while now.
 
Our neighbour's own a cat. Well, I say own... the people down the street used to own a cat, but then bought a dog a few years back - the cat got fed up and left and turned up at their house and has lived there ever since... but I digress.

This cat once chased a squirrel up a tree. Turns out the squirrel bit the cats foot so badly the vet had to amputate part of it... like if you imagine your toe and the bones running back from the toe all the way up to your ankle. Are they the tarsals or the carpals? I forget which ones are in your hands and which are in your feet.

So... long story short... on the ground a cat will have a squirrel. Up a tree, the squirrel will probably sort the cat out.
 
Used to have a tom cat a few years back, would bring in rabbits constantly as big as himself.
He was a greedy ******* mind, he'd eat the sodding bread if you left it out :|

Actually saw him stalking a deer in our field once, game little bugger i'll give him that lol
 
Speaking of rabbits, does anyone want one? lol

I rescued an escaped pet rabbit from a cat tonight on the way home from work.

I managed to catch the rabbit by throwing my coat over it.

Im gonna put some signs up round the street I caught it and hope someone comes to get it. If not i dunno what we will do with it.

There's loads of rabbits where i live, they are soooo stupid its unreal.

The little ones just sit on the road and admire cars, my cats just go up the road, get them and eat them if i cant get there first.

Rabbits are a bit thick though as they dont run away.

Comedy cat anecdote #1:

Whilst catsitting for a friend, I got out of the shower and sat down at my desk to check my emails...only to have one of the kittens latch on to my scrotum.

I jolted upright, banged my head on a shelf and still hat a cat on my nadbag.

All 4 paws and teeth sunk into my hairy brain.

:(

Nothing hurts like prising a kitten off your giggleberries.

Comedy cat anecdote #2:

Same cats, two years later.

I had been out with friends for the evening and went to crash at theirs.

We got in (very drunk) and started talking, partied with Mary a bit and put some chicken kievs in the oven to stave off the hunger.

My friends went off to bed so I stuck a DVD on as I wasn't tired...

...The next thing I know, I have woken up, chicken kiev in my mouth and a cat sat on my chest, gingerly nibbling the other end.

Our eyes locked and it was like a standoff. Neither of us moved for about a minute...Just stared at each other.

Eventually it ran off. The single strangest moment of my life to date, I think...

Aslong as I have been with the 3 cats I have now. None have bought anything back for us. :( We have Garfield who is 14 I think, for his age he is fast and pretty good at stalking. Not so good in the grass mind, he is ginger. So any prey can spot him a mile off. Poppy is ace. She will go to the death, great at stalking super fast and a bit of a dirty stop out.:cool:

Now, Jemima. Newish cat only 4 yo and will own any cat or other animal in our neighbourhood. I have seen her (literally) with her left front paw/leg pinning this silly white cat up against the fance in our old house. Shes hard as nails.

Now as from yesterday these 3 so called hard cats (apart from Garf hes cute and cant be bothered) have this to contend to.

We have him over till Monday next week. Jemima has already tried to have ago at him but them bolted for the door and we didnt see her till this morning:). Hes a loverly dog.

Tell me about it, Me & my Frank staffy dog have been attacked for no reason i may add by this same cat three times so far. This cat on our dog walking route is a proper hooligan :p First time we saw the beast it was just sitting in the way on the path, i went to Shoooo it off & it just took its stance & came at us. Obviously frank just wants to mash it to bits but i can't have all that business kicking off. Second time it moved onto the road & blocked this Doris in a soft top MG, she saved us this time by getting out the motor & Shooeeeeing it off :p The third time it Hunted us the ******* thing. It was hiding behind a gate post & jumped out on us hissing & throwing its paws about. I was going to get my size 14+ shoe under it's belly & it wheel span off before i could.
I've had enough of it & would rather Frank dealt with it but i can't see harm done to Any animal.
Anyways, I don't doubt the aggression side of it i am more impressed the cat has the agility to catch a rabbit. Good effort cat.
 
Its funny watching my cats go mental when there is a fly buzzing around the window trying to get out, as they do.

We try to smack a fly with a newpaper or our hands and 99% of the time the fly has buggered off. Fast little things, but when our cats go for it. One swoop and they hit it. Cats are so fast.
