Crossfire and multiple monitors
wtf, this wasn't possible from day one?
can nvidia cards do this?
if not, both ati and nvidia are a complete joke
i can't justify sli/crossfire myself, so will never bother with it

Crossfire and multiple monitors
I'm actually mulling over selling/trading my GTX for a 3870X2 now, I'd have to give it more thought and pour over some benchmarks and reviews though before I decide on anything final. Nvidia drivers at the moment are simply a shambles for me, and while the hardware offers excellent performance I've had 8800s for dead on a year now and I am bored and want something new to play with.
You're twisting my arm, lol. I'm pouring over every review I can find as we speak. It seems the only game that Crossfire/X2 doesn't scale well in is Crysis but I've nearly finished it now so that's not an issue. That was the same way i was thinking , so i sold my gtx oc2 and got this instead ! glad i did it, and wanted to make use of the second pcie slot on my mobo . i was just bored of the same hardware. This is the first ati i have had since crossfiring 2 x 1800 xt's when they were all the rage, crossfire was a bit dodgy then though but i think it was more to do with the motherboards than the cards , hopefully this next go will be a lot better
From what I can see the only issue is in games that don't scale well with Crossfire like Crysis. So andyr can you give us any idea of how much better you think the X2 is over your GTX, any areas where it lacks in comparison?
I like the look of 8800GT Sli considering how cheap they are now only problem is I have a P5B Deluxe which afaik is none SLI compatible
So would mean more outlay and hassle to go that route.
So andyr can you give us any idea of how much better you think the X2 is over your GTX, any areas where it lacks in comparison?
Anywhere between a 7-23% loss in performance depending on resolution. So higher res more bandwidth needed and less performance attained. So you could Crossfire a 3870XT in the x16 slot and 3850 in the X4 slot if you wanted to not waste the extra.
Well, I've done it. I've put my GTX on MM.
It's been exactly a year since I used an ATI product, should be a refreshing change.
I'm ****** off with Nvidia drivers at the moment. I won't get into all the reasons but it's mainly to do with my TV at the moment, can't get 1366x768 to work and some driver sets won't even do the slightly blurry 1360x768.Good luck Ulf and I think from reports that you won't be disappointed as well as having 8.3 drivers looming. That driver set alone will help sell ATI cards as it's mighty impressive. If only Nvidia could pull something out a hat like that concerning their driver sets but we all know it's not going to happen any time soon

Put simply, what can I crossfire my 3870xt with on a P35 board?
