Seeing as the 8.3's in my opinion caused nothing but trouble, was wondering if anyone had any idea when we can expect to see the 8.4's? Sorry if this post has been done before but I can't search 8.4 ^^

my favourite game! I've finished it loads of times, I can't get enough

Most people that report having the 3D Mark problem, say it doesn't affect games, also, I'm on the 8.3s with a 3870X2 and I get 19700, so it's not affecting everyone.

I hope the 8.4's help me out too - this 3870 has been nothing but trouble since I moved up from a 2900pro - most games just seem to crash or lock up - stalker's what I've just been trying but I can't even get outdoors without it just hanging on me

Strange..i have the 3870xt and no problems here whatsoever.

You sure that there's nothing wrong in your system(except for the card drivers) for it to crash and lock up so often?

I get the 3DMark issue with the 8.3s and also i still get the weird effect in CS:S with the flashbangs going off.

Otherwise i am pretty happy running everything max detail at 1680x1050. One other thing to point out, with the latest patch on UT3 and the newest GFX drivers i no longer get random lock ups with an overclocked CPU, which i am extremely happy about.

I'm happy with the 8.3's. They fixed all of the PowerPlay issues, My 3DMark score is fine, the only issue I have is the flash bug when vsync is disabled.

I'd guess that the 8.4s will be similar if not identical to the 8.3 hotfix driver, which did help me massively with the Powerplay issue. However, I still can't seem to max out the GPU usage in Trackmania United when playing online, it just hovers around 30%-40% (using Rivatuner to view this) and doesn't give great framerates. What's really odd is that playing offline with fewer cars visible makes the GPU hit 100% usage.

I can't believe I am that CPU limited, as the game does make use of both CPU cores. Has anyone else experienced their 3xxx cards not working to 100% GPU usage?

sounds like you need some uppers or something, getting depressed over 3dmark is just sad pal.

had that problem with stalker as well. turns out its the >3gb error with stalker. You may want to check out a little program called 3GB enabler. Sorted my problems with Stalker and Supcom =D

I'll give that a go cheers - have just run memtest for a few hours and it only picked up one error - not sure whether to think it could be my ram thats at fault?

It has hanged up with me on my 3850, interesting, I have 8.3s

I have wondered about a bit outdoors - say 10 mins then 'HANG'

I'm going to swap out the 3870 for my old x1900 and see if the same problem persists, if not then I'll know its something to do with the 3870 (in theory).

I get the flashbang - Flickering effect too, it happens for me in COD4, but otherwise I like the performance of the Hotfix Cats.
I hope they sort the flashbang flickering in 8.4, that would be my only request.

Was that memtest from boot or within windows? An error is still an error regardless really

It was from boot not within windows, my ubuntu install had a copy of memtest within it.

I guess I could try someone elses ram or just plunge for the 4gig OCZ kit thats on TWO at the moment ... only £49!

Do you send a request through ati with the issue ? 'Cos I'm sure someone said you can.

I've never done it myself however
