Does anyone know if Adaptive AA is worth having on? If i enable it, and launch EVE, EVE looks jaggy and the FPS hits 500+ even with Vysnc enabled...yet if i disable it, Everything comes back to normal and i stick at 60fps with vsync and all the graphics are super smooth. I just cant work out what and if i need it.

Card is a HD4850

same with Grid mate but not amazing fps like that,

Right just played TF2 and i got awful FPS so i unistalled all drivers and driver sweeped them as i installed 8.8s over 8.7s. Installed 8.8s but there is no Display driver? What the heck lol ???

I've put the 8.8 straight over the 8.6's seems to work really well.I found the 8.7's very buggy.

still experiencing problems with my 8.8's went back to them. Every so often Crysis will not start in DirectX10 mode, but as soon as I re-install just the drivers part of the package it works fine again

If just the drivers are working fine, then grab the latest ATi Tray Tools to use instead of the CCC to do all your graphical settings.

i wouldnt mind seeing some new game results with these drivers, i mean i wonder if the crossfireX peformance has also been improved. might be something to think about if it has with the cards being so cheap 2nd hand now.

I decided to buy an overclocked 3850 to play with the crossfire x - as my current card is a gigabyte ddr3 3870 I thought a bit of hybrid crossfire x should show some decent improvements plus the card was only £40 delivered

Just had a bit of an issue., 4850 crossfire, has been running sweet with bret_bios and 8.8's. Lastnight had a total lockup. Then everything was down by 20-50% fps. Sucks so re-installed drivers. Bo change, also if I disabled crossfire the tab disappeared. Crossfire was working but not by much. Swoped the cards over and re-installed everything. Still no change. Used a backup with 8.7's and everything was back to normal, but becasue I need opengl to work I have to use the 8.8's. Samething happed, crap crossfire performance. Re-flashed the stock bios back and re-installed my backup. Installed 8.8's and they work okish, performance doesn't drop like before but still not sweet. About 300pts down in 3dMark06, only for ref.. Thing is everything was working fine, even o/c.. The cards still clock on stock bios, just don't get the performance I was getting before. Drivers just like the women in my life, can't live with then but can't live without them.. lol...

Seems to be ATi related. I've tried removing the 8.8 CCC and installing the 8.7 version (but leaving the drivers alone). Still no good.

I thought it maybe heat related, but I've ran ATi Tool and FurMark for around 20min each, and with 40% fan the temp doesn't go above 70ºC and the PC does not crash.

I'm going to try some other games and see what happens.... if it's just GRID then I can live with that.

Why not run the fan 100% & see if it crashes.

i'm still having some trouble with GRID too, playing with crossfire enabled crashes my pc but 1 card is fine. did think it was my psu again but everything else i have tried that uses crossfire runs stable.

CM DiRT runs fine in crossfire although i only get an extra 10fps but seeing as i only get 40 with 1 card 25% extra is better than none lol.

Still having the same problem, weather or not adaptive AA is selected now, ive gone back to the 8.7 hotfixes and now these will not work. Just seems everytime i open a game none of the settings in CCC actually apply to the game i.e AA/AF/Vysnc etc

Finally! Manged to fix GRID. ATi had responded to my support ticket with some stuff to try and all I needed in the end was a damn good clearout of all the old software.

So I did:-

• Add/Remove Programs
• Restart
• Ran Driver Sweeper / CCleaner in Safe-Mode
• Deleted all ATi folders from my Hard Drive
• Ran Regedit and deleted all ATi references under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER
• Restarted
• Installed 8.8 driver suite again
• Restarted

Voila! No more problems.

I had a weird problem with these driver on my HIS 4870X2. I had the drivers installed that came with the card an they were working fine. But you know how it is.. so I decided to install these 8.8's.

I used DriverSweeper to clean the Ati ones off and then rebooted. Installed the 8.8's then rebooted. Upon reboot had no CCC, nothing, could even get back to 1900x1200 res. So attempted to install again and get a "Driver Error: Inf file could not be found" or some such half way through installation.

Tried this all about 5 times with the orginal drivers and the 8.8s after cleaning and rebooting each time, still the same.

Finally the only way I got any drivers to install was to goto device manager and do the Update driver software from there and put the CD in.

Must say this is the first time I've had this issue with a driver set.

my TF2 has much higher frames with these drivers yet everything is a bit jerky out in large areas but still good FPS

thats it...something aint right now ive installed these 8.8's. I was using the hotfix drivers, then i installed these 8.8's, totally removed the 8.7's...but still all the games seem to ignore CCC and its settings, thus resulting in no AA no AF no vysnc..thus again resulting in stupid high FPS, jaggies everywhere..

Ive tried installing ATT but i get wrong low level driver warning or something, reinstalling does nothing to that either....something isnt right since these 8.8's touched my system, god i wish i hadnt seen the 8.8 released.

Going back to the 8.7's that worked before results in the same problem as i have with the 8.8's again totally removing any trace of ATi before i re-installed the 8.7's.

Wow my 4850 blows big time in TF2 it goes down to 25 fps in big gunfights . However saying that i proberly need to buy a new mobo so i can overclock my processor more money

thats it, im offically giving up...what sort of crap is this, i minimize the game and everything switches off now- AA/AF/Vysnc, never happened before, i could minimize the game 100's of times and not have a problem, this is just annoying the hell out of me and im seriously thinking of selling the 4850 and getting a Nvidia card..stupid drivers.
