Hi all,

I've upgraded to Windows 8.1 which made all the AMD drivers etc. no longer work. I've since done two rounds off 'clean' 'official' re installations of CCC and Afterburner, latest AMD drivers for the card in my sig. etc. All seems fine but after a restart or two the CCC stops working and gives me an error where it says there are "no settings that can be configured using AMD CCC"

!

Very annoying. I often get the black border under/overscan issue on my monitor and I need CCC to adjust this.

Anyone got any ideas... Can't believe this is something again that's happening on a new version of windows. How can AMD and Microsoft keep getting this so wrong!

I had a similar problem with Windows 8 and an AMD card the CCC wouldn't install properly hanging on the C++ library I think, then eventually after finding a way to skip that part of the install I had to change the overscan settings. very frustrating I was hoping 8.1 would clear up this problem.

I have since replaced the AMD card with an Nvidia one.

Andi.

Are you using a HDMI cable to connect?

I had this while using my 7970 and had to go into CCC, go my flat panel displays, and change the overscan settings in there.

Using a DVI cable stopped this from happening.

Thanks for the advice so far. The overscan thing is really just a minor niggle. Knowing that CCC and therefore afterburner aren't working properly is much more annoying.

Use the link is my sig to report the exact steps used to make the issue occur. It'll then get fixed in an up and coming beta driver.

If you had W8 and upgraded to W8.1 has screwed many things guys.
You need to reinstall .NET framework and on many occasions DirectX also.
(and those are MS issues not AMD)

I wouldn't expect anything better, from an OS that you need 3rd party application to uninstall software.

MS has screwed Window for good.

Funny you should say this Panos and you may have just unearthed something. Originally i had my W8 install running for ages. So it was all updated, net frameworks and what not. Anyway a week or so back i decided to update to 8.1 on my old install. I already had my AMD drivers installed, along with all my other drivers. After doing the update i noticed that CCC wasn't working properly, along with other things. CCC was still installed and i could open it. But any changes i made to it were not saved. I noticed similar things with other devices as well.

I ended up picking up a virus later that day, the rts.exe 100% cpu usage virus. I managed to remove it using Rogue Killer, but i wasn't sure what damage it had done to my system. So i decided to do a fresh install.

I installed w8 normal edition. Went straight to the store, upgraded to 8.1 straight off the bat. Didn't download no net framework updates, no driver installs nothing. Updated to 8.1, then ran Windows update. It only found 7 updates and none were net framework updates. So clearly 8.1 has alll the latest updates and net frameworks pre-installed. I then installed all my drivers and CCC without any problems.

That's my cool story bro for the day, thanks all.
