My partners cat is deffo quite crafty at either trying for attention or food. I just sit and ignore it most of the time though and will do more so now for fear of being subconciously controlled by a cat

I'd have a dog over a cat any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Don't confuse obediance with intelligence. The type of dogs used to find drugs and explosives are not exactly renowned for their intelligence, even in the dog world. (Labradors and Spaniels are not known for their brains).

I have the best of both worlds IMO, in our Maine ****, shows the best traits of cats and dogs

non of our 3 cats do this, loud pur with baby sounding cry (non of ours do a baby souding meow cry, nor do they do a meow/cry that is anoying etc)

If they want food and no one is near, they go into the kitchen, they know whuch cupboard their food is in, open the door and pull out the pack of iams then get the food out.

sounds like some silly prof who dosent feed the cat they should.

My cat does the ripping thing with the front of my sofa. Or my antique footstool for reward. Bless her.

Heh, both here learned not to do that after they got sprayed with some water for doing it as kittens.

for me cats are one of the perfect animals. they do everything that they need to do to survive stupidly well and i cant think of any real way that they could be improved
