Got done doing 99mph in the Evo on the way back from Bristol last weekend

Is this likely to be just 3 points and a £60 fine or could it go to court? It was on the m4, was the only time I put my foot down all the way home aswell, typical! Atleast it's under 100mph anyway, few secounds earlier and it could well have been a lot more.

No it was a scamera on top of the bridge, hope it's not a court appearance :(

I thought anything under 100mph was just the fine and points?

Below 100mph its discreation if you get 3 points or go to court. But the advise given out to Police forces is anything over 95mph and it should really be a court appearance.

Again depends on how you got caught and the procedures for that force area.
Your looking at points on your licence no matter what, but not a disqualification (unless you have points already).
Normally anything over 100mph is a automatic disqualification unless you plead mittigatiing circumstances.

Thanks for the info, what's the link to that site with all the info etc?

IIRC someone off you got off twice using the PACE method? Anyone got any more details?

And yes I am a child killer, should slow down, deserve to be banned etc etc

Was it 99mph on speedo or GPS?

If it was speedo then it's likely to be closer to 93-95mph in which case I would guess at 3 points and £60 (that's what I got for 94mph on the A3).

Edit:
I was pulled over by an actual Police man and we had a good chat so he may have used his common sense to give me the lower penalty.

I don't think many on here would take that attitude :) I got done at 96 and got 5 points + £125 fine - and yes it did sting.

You'd be surprised! Although this is Motors, it's still OcUK. ;)

I got done at 104, 6 points £250 fine.... that stung too, but less than a ban.

Ouch :(

When I got done at 96, I was doing 120 (indicated) moments earlier so I counted myself lucky :)

this thread just goes to show how stupid the punishments for speeding are... mate of my bro's got done doing 106 on the m74 he got a year ban and 500 quid fine with no previous.

Four miles an hour less and look at the difference in the penalty. To me that could be the reason so many do it, the punishment is so variable that even if there is a small chance of getting a lenient fine then really tanking it is worth it.

have u actually recieved the NIP yet ? sometimes get lucky (like me!) and dont hear anything as the camera may not have been in operation.

Heheh, snap :D In the picture the Mondeo is stood on its nose under some seriously heavy braking.

I never go much over 90 indicated nowadays because it just isn't worth the risk of a big fine. Once bitten (or fined) twice shy.

ermmmmm sorry but i dont beleive that for one second. A year ban and £500 ? was he drunk at the time ?

I got done for 130mph and got 56 days and £120 fine a few years ago.

I got done for 97.2mph AVERAGE speed - was tailed by a police car for a while (didn't notice) and I was pulled and had a chat. Being the 2nd of Jan he decided not to send me to court and start my year off badly (his words) and to give me an on the spot 3 points and £60 fine. Was a few years ago now.

Apparently, according to that police man, 96mph AVERAGE speed is to the point the send you to court. I don't know how it stands for one off speed capture.

A lady at work's husband has just been t ocourt for doing 63mph in a 40. He got 30 day ban and £275 fine. Got told it was because of being in a forty zone and the fact he was doing over 20mph over the limit. He is 62 years old (if that makes any difference?)
