Caught doing 99mph

I have had the NIP through, just read over the documentation a bit closer.

"26mph over the speed limit and you will be issued with a summons to go to court"

Looks like I can expect 5-6 point and a hefty fine then. How good are the photos they take? Can you identify the driver easily?

Lucky it wasn't a couple of minutes earlier otherwise that would have been instant ban and a lot worse I think! I won't go into details as this is a public forum :p

Just my luck though, if some scumbag hadn't broke the window on my clio and nicked the stereo a few days before then I would have been driving that and would have stuck to the limit!

ermmmmm sorry but i dont beleive that for one second. A year ban and £500 ? was he drunk at the time ?

I got done for 130mph and got 56 days and £120 fine a few years ago.

thats gods honest truth... no drink involved.

I got a bog standard 3 points + £60 for 97.5 in the pouring rain on the M23. There was no question of court as far as I know, I was just given the ticket and a producer.

*However* the difference could be that the actual speed wasn't recorded on the ticket. I was told at the time what speed they had clocked me at but the ticket just read "excess motorway speed" or something along those lines.

Good luck :).

Unlucky about the NIP, I would have expected 99 to go to court though to be honest. Any idea how you are going to play it yet?

Im guessing your around the 5 point mark with a few hundred £££ fine.
If your licence is clean then it will live to fight another day

Yeah it's a clean licence, got an idea of how I'm going to play it. A few reasons why I was travelling faster than I should have been on that day, won't go into it on the forum though. Looks like I'm going to have to suffer 5+ points and a hefty fine though.

Not a scamera in this case, you got caught fair and square driving way faster than the limit.

I s referred to it as a scamera as I still think it's a scam as my driving was in no way dangerous ;) I'd go as far to say 99mph in the Evo is saver than 70mph in a lot of cars!

But your right, I was caught fair and square doing illegal speeds and will face the consequences of it.

Heheh, snap :D In the picture the Mondeo is stood on its nose under some seriously heavy braking.

I was secretly dissapointed that the camera on the A1 was turned off the day I did a stoppie past it at 80  But, I did see a pic on a bike forum of someone somersaulting a Ninja past a speed camera. "Road safety initiative backfires on incompetent motorcyclists"

I never go much over 90 indicated nowadays because it just isn't worth the risk of a big fine. Once bitten (or fined) twice shy.

Ditto. Though I've never been bitten - however it uses less fuel too ;)

I have been pulled over a few times and just chatted to the cops about it and they let me off as they realised that I wasn't a chav and a well educated sensible person that was just caught at the wrong moment.... Needless to say I've done some silly speeds in the past, especially on the bike... :o

I hope you don't get too badly punished for that.. Of course a big open motorway is foolish to be doing anything over 70.... ;)

Yer fair enough, as long as you have some ideas though. I would expect 5 points as a given to be honest and then maybe depending on the quality of those reasons of yours a couple of hundred quid fine.

Ive been done for the same speed 99mph on the A55 in North Wales was offered 3 point FPN but went to court and got 4 points and £100 + £35 costs
