CBR125 Opinions?!

I was originally planning on just doing the DAS, but the missus persuaded me to spend a year on a 125 first.. Plus I think I'd rather build up my confidence on something smaller and more manageable first!

I did look at other 125s but to be honest i didn't like the look of them and I had the cash to spend so thought I might as well spend it on something I liked the look of! I hunted round this area for another CBR125 but they were all still priced around the £2k mark some with about 15k miles on! So I thought I might as well go for this one, I like the look of it and its low miles, I did manage to get £100 off the price so it wasn't too bad and I put my deposit down today! :)

not being funny but any idiot can pass a cbt. they are one day courses and its not you that has the issues its everyone else. Things like not being sure on road positioning or where you should be in certain situations can get you killed. also not all 123s can be ridden on a cbt - the rs125 can't.

You're trained safely/better like on a DAS which is the equivilent to taking driving lessons.

That is the biggest point I can put across about a DAS personally. My 'mate' has done exactly the same thing as you, did his CBT, then spent what I consider far to much on a 125(even worse it's a Korean knock off lol). But I've been out with him and I consider him quite unsafe due to rider positioning and what not, and he will just continue to get in to more bad habits, which will be harder for him to get out of when he comes to do his full licence.

I know the sensible thing is to get a shed for a first 125 until you can pass test... but if you plan to be on it for some time I can see the attraction.

When I turned 17 (cough some 20+ years back lol), I had my heart set on the newly released unfaired TZR125 ...sure it was slow, but I thought it looked the mutts and I felt king of the road. The unfaired version was actually quicker in straight line as you could just lye flat on tank

Spent ages tweaking it, derestricted by fitting full YPVS system so I didn't get low down hole associated with pinning power value open, loved it!.

Other bonus was with a 2t 125 it actually went quite well... I'm guessing 25 odd bhp and she would ton up which was good bragging rights at youth club / pub :D, plus you could happily sit at 80mph all day
