Hi All,
Going to give my CBR some love... and do a nice service on him. So, bought a
K&N Chrome Filter, however, what would people recommend on oil? I've read the Haynes manual and was going to go for this fully synthetic 10W40

Then,
spark plug wise, was going to go with these puppies. Are there performance ones that I could get, like platinum or something like I have in my Saab? Worth it, or just stick with these?

Now, question here is air box. I have a standard one, but was looking at going
K&N Air Filter or one of the aftermarket ones. If I do, will it mean tampering with carb setup or will it be a direct replacement or is it even worth going K&N... should I just stick with a bog standard one?

I don't know about the rest but I use K&N oil filters and I like them. As for oil I've only used Motul 5100 so far, doing my 2nd oil change, since getting the bike, next Saturday before I go on a meet on the Sunday.

I just the cheapest motorbike 10w-40 oil I can find and have never bought into iridium plugs or k&n filters. I think that any performance differences between the standard and original products must be really minimal, IMO.

are you a woman.....or Gay

just asking as you call your bike a HIM....as in you like to ride HIM hard all day....

every man knows that any machinery that has a personality is a HER. sounds better I like to ride HER all day and night.

anyway,
service Items
oil filter(oil & Air) get the correct weight and spec ,and dont really worry about the name
fairings off and all to be cleaned and inspected engine, hoses, chain, sprockets, brakes and tyres, most of the service time is in the inspecting components to see if there in need of replacement, not the replacement of them.
you could change the hydraulic oils as well depends when it was last done depending on the oil already there 2/4 years. oh and oil the clutch line as well and the throttle cables. can make a good difference in the riding of the bike.

bullit

I don't know what it's like for your bike but for mine (2000 R6) I read up and it seemed the OEM air filter was better than the K&N. As for oil I personally use Motul fully synthetic 7100 which has been fine, well beside the fact my bike burns a bit of oil because it overheated when a coolant pipe broke

Can't speak for the plugs as I've only changed mine once and should probably do it again sometime soon but I've not looked into different types.

This.

Unless you're a girl, in which case pics.

What if his bike is a hermaphrodite?

Even though I bought the other oil I decided to try fully synthetic this time round and bought this today.

Okey doke cheers fellas.

As for "Eric", hey lay of the dude lol... he's done nothing to hurt you :-)

Nope, not gay hahaha (well hope not as the wife won't be happy rofl), just the fact that to me, this obsession with men calling cars her and bikes her and machinery isn't something I buy into. I judge each piece of machinery on it's own merits

i.e. My Honda Civic Tyre R is a "she" deffo, chunky behind in red... she looks like a whore... My Saab Aero is deffo a man, there's no way on earth a BLACK SAAB 93 AERO is a women... My old Pug was a fella as he sounded like a chain smoker with the carbs. For a car to be a women it needs curves... i.e. a DB9, that's deffo a women. As for bikes... if I'd gotton the SV650, that'd deffo be a bird :-) Hope that's cleared it up...

BTW fellas, was polishing Eric's exhaust earlier and it came up a treat LMFAO

It's weird because instead of just saying your vehicle is either male or female, you're saying it's either man or woman.

I don't see my bike as a woman but she is definitely a her.

Man Eric can't be a boy otherwise I'd be classed as a gay pedo... he has to be a man... I can live with gay but not a pedo lol

Male/Man, Female/Women same difference isn't it?

No...

A man is an adult human male and a woman is an adult human female.

A motorcycle is not an adult human and therefore neither a man or a woman.

I have called a few bikes bitches before like the time my xs400 run out of petrol and I thought I had reserve left but I was already on reserve pushed her home early in the morning 9 mile believe me a 400cc twin starts of as light and easy but after a few miles becomes real heavy no mobile phones back then :)
