Celica GT

Celica for me. Find a good one and it will last you for years, Ive owned two gen 5's might actually get a gen 6 one day lol.
 
if its been looked after then i wouldnt worry too much about higher miles and age myself.
 
Celica for sure. They aren't that old (depends entirely of your view of old :p) and they don't have to be high mileage, just look properly. I found a fair few for £1800 and under with decent miles for the age (100k-130k) when I was looking before. :)
 
That's not a choice, celica all the way. I had a gen 6 gt in black for a year, never skipped a beat and I only sold it last weekend to move onto a gen 7 190 :) They don't really have any common issues assuming that you go for a UK car. Some later imports will have the superstrut suspension which is great but expensive to rebuild every 60k (probably get more mileage out of a non-gt4).

UK GT pushes out 173bhp as standard, engine is bullet proof and has no known issues, just make sure its been well taken care of. Do not worry about mileage or age, my car ran perfectly when I sold it at 110k, took it on a rolling road about 3 months ago and it pulled very well all the way to the redline and made 175bhp.
 
Yea the general feeling on here is to make sure you go for a UK one. My one was a jap import with superstrut suspension etc and parts were far more of a pain to get hold of on the whole.

Also, it got a bit tedious being charged more for the jap part over the uk one on several occasions.
 
The coupe's can look really good tbf, especially in that blue as shown here.

I'm not talking about the alloys or anything here, just the colour i think's fairly nice, nicer in erm..the "flesh" than pictures too.

Celica's are fun cars and i'd argue you'd have more fun in a celica and have less stress owning/maintaining a celica too.

Its bordering on criminal to get a 406 coupe without the v6 tbh :p

Pff, show me another Mid 90's jap car that looks like the celica. Also, a 406 - stunning? Er, no.
 
We are talking about the Pininfarina designed 406 Coupe, not the Saloon. Jap Coupe's from the 90's are all very bland unless you've spent a fortune modifying them. Then you get inside and it's even worse.
 
The 406 V6 is a bit of a nightmare, it is hugely expensive to run for a Peugeot. If I was paying those sort of running costs I wouldnt want a Peugeot keyfob.
 
The fastest pug 406 coupe outside the v6 one has about 135bhp or so while the v6 one has just over 200? and if the v6 one costs a lot to run then maybe none of them are worth getting TBH.

The celica will pull a 0-60 under 8 secs, its pretty low down and feels sporty and has a great driving position. They're nice cars!
 
Just bought myself the GT :)

£1500 100k UK spec '96

Slightly modified. Lowered, (minimalist) sideskirt bodykit and induction kit. Running on after market momo alloys also.

New clutch. Fresh MOT. Took it for a test drive and it pulls like a nutter.
