Cellfactor: Revolution - Free DL

Well if i were Ageia i would stop bundling that game with the card. But the last Cellfactor benchmark i seen, there was only like a 2-5fps difference between the two.

The bottom line is that you need a top of the range graphics card to appreciate the physics, no good, especially with quad core cpus round the corner..

"It's pretty clear it's just a bad tech demo coded badly on purpose as a marketing ploy."
You’re just making that up. No one in there right mind will code a demo badly as a marketing ploy. That would make people not want to buy their software API.

It makes not sense to code the demo badly and the same effects in games and demos made by other companies with nothing to do with Ageia have the same performance problems via the CPU. Proveing the CPU is the problem not bad coding. Its just impossible to do those effects fast on the CPU.

It seems a lot of people on here are in denial at how well Ageia are doing.

Nah it's just a lot of people dont see the sense in wasting the money.

Not played this game yet, downloading now..

Alan Wake has great physics doesnt it? Does that use a ppu? Dont think so... what does it use? multiple cores..

Ive said it before.. when youre running through an area, trying not to get shot...you dont really pay attention to cloth...really..

Ageia should ack up now tbh... people here who have tried this game said its rubbish, even if it does look good on a ppu and run better... they need to have GOOD games that are worth playing before these case-warmers become worthwhile..

No it doesn’t have great physics its got average physics. Never seen anything impressive come out of Alan Wake physics wise. Alan Wake is a good example of how the CPU isn’t enough and we need a PPU or physics on a GPU.

There are far more games out there then just FPS games. There are also far more effects that just cloth like liquids and soft metal. Cloth might not be usefull when your running though getting shot at but you dont spend every game all the time like that.

Alan Wake had a whole video dedicated to the Quad Core advantages. It showed a full scale tornado destroying a small village. Havok is far better at this point to what Ageia can pull off. Havok can do liquid physics and particle effects as seen in HL2.

I think I'd rather spend £100 extra on my processor or gfx card than waste it on a card that will sit in my PC and do nothing. No games support = Not worth the money.

By the time most games actually support PPU it'll be bundled on GFX cards. Buying into it now is a complete waste unless you're really *THAT* worried about a few FPS.

played this game earlyer on, was amazing graphics and physics even without a ageia card. but the game its self was too fast, didnt know what the hell to do, the guns had no feel of damage to them you just shoot and hope

Thank you. This is what i was on about.

Just played this game, and its a bit...weird..

the graphics are decent but don't warrant 30fps or lower on an 8800

and you have no idea what to do..you just get dropped in, and get killed by something you barely see for a second...

aaand finaly the phisics wern't impressive at all over havok.. i saw no real reason to say "omg i want a ppu for that to run better!!" the reacons of the items were slow, such as the boxes seem to react slow to things happening..

“It showed a full scale tornado destroying a small village.”
Tornado’s are light physics wise more so when you have a small amount of objects like in that video. There’s nothing impressive about a tornado it’s been used in to games in the past. Cloth, liquids and soft metal are all far more demanding physics wise then a tornado.

“Havok can do liquid physics and particle effects as seen in HL2.“
Where? Last time I played HL2 it didn’t have any real 3d liquids so how can it show liquid physics?

“aaand finaly the phisics wern't impressive at all over havok..”
Then please show Havok doing real cloth, liquids and 1000’s of objects interactive at once.

“i saw no real reason to say "omg i want a ppu for that to run better!!"
That’s not what the games for. If you don’t have a PPU you don’t get all the fancy physics enabled so its not really suspiring you didn’t see anything impassive.

oh yeah!
didnt somebody leak it from valves servers? :o

Aye :p

PhysX cards are not all that. What do they do that a well coded game cannot do? look at Source for example and what people are doing with it (Garrys Mod) - absolutely amazing stuff and no Physx card required at all with better performance to boot.
