CES 2025 AMD & Nvidia Keynote Live Chat [06/01/25]

I quoted you but wasn't aimed at you specifically, there's been several posts by multiple people with a gloating vibe to it. Certainly nothing personal to you
Because AMD have had the benefit of the doubt so many times before and today they not only fumbled again, but wasted everyone's time who was interested in their products. Before the conference most were really positive they would be able to turn the ship around. Intel are our best hope for true competition now IMO.

While today was a disappointment from amd not to showcase what they have, I'll hold fire on whether the product is a dud or not when we actually see it. My expectation was it would perform like a 4070ti with much improved RT (over rdna 3)and be 16gb. If that's the case and it's priced around 400 it's a good card and will fit most people's budget and performance requirements.

Likewise I'll not get carried away with things like the 5070 being as good or better than a 4090 until I see independent reviews.
I hope so, but how often has it been the case a company acting like this is hiding a great product? :)

5070 will probably come down to how much one values all the dlss and ai features on top. One man's great value (me) is another man's "fake frames".

Those prices of the 5000 series  as if anyone will actually get any of them for that price.

Sure a few might snag them from Nvidia's website at that price but will quickly and purposely be "out of stock" then left to all the other providers who will absolutely jack up prices.

Its going to be an interesting show that's for sure!
So your saying they are too cheap lol.

We did this dance last Gen with everyone doubting the 4090 performance in raster based on the slides.

Nvidia probably just want to work on the drivers more and plan on a massive positive push because it's raw performance is a "surprise" when the reviews hit.

Last gen went from Samsung 8nm(10nm TSMC really 30 series) to TSMC 4nm (40 series) ... 50 series is still 4nm... Check the transistor counts and be shocked..

The dance is justified this time.. 60 series and a new node shrink again and we will see a real jump again if Nvidia doesn't gimp the silicon size.

I'll look at the reviews the day before I guess. If a 5080 is mostly 4090 performance with a grand in my pocket, that may be the better option after all.

Also if the FE is £1939 then you can pretty much guess that the cheapest AIB is going to be £2050-2100 and more expensive ones up to £2500... if i remember correctly it was £1699 for an FE 4090 and i ended up paying £1910 for a gigabyte gaming OC from overclockers on launch day

If it's like last time I think AIBs have to offer one sku (nearly always the none oc) at MSRP for launch.
