CF useage in Last Light?

What sort of GPU usage are you guys getting in Last Light?

I'm only getting 70-80%.

This happens regardless of CPU and GPU clock, I have tried at 4.7 and 5.0Ghz on the CPU and 1150/1575 and stock on the GPU.

I'm worried that it is my lack of an i7.

What are others getting?

Will test this tomorrow, perhaps it's a similar situation we saw the other day on bf3, where more threads generated better cf utilisation?

Sorry I can't help but I would just like to see how this thread turns out as I am in a similar situation as you.
I would like to go crossfire my HD7950s but was wondering whetehr my i5 2500k would hold it back.

What resolution would you be using and what games do you play? That cpu will bottleneck the gpu's slightly in some games.

The bottleneck won't be so bad at 1440p. What games do you play?

Currently have a list of games I want to try out such as Bioshock infinite, metro last light, skyrim, grid 2 and far cry 3 and the upcoming BF4(or BF 3.5 as some call it)

Wait an i5 2500k will bottleneck 2x 7950 :( I waiting on another 7950 coming today.

i think BF3 is one of the few games where the bottleneck is noticeable and if BF4 is the same then I may just have to "upgrade" to an i7 :o

The bottleneck is minor and thread not ipc related and only effects certain games in certain scenarios I.e. large map bf3

Easy upgrade matey, 26/700k's are fairly cheap second hand these days, after selling on your 2500k you're looking around a £50-60 upgrade.

Edit: or as you're on z68 you could also look at 3770k's. Or take the manly upgrade to x79 ;)

Was thinking this the other day. Sandy bridge 2700k better overclocker still? less temps etc
Ivy bridge i7 wasn't they bad overclockers? and bad temps

Yep due to the soldered lid they can quite easily counter ivy/haswells better ipc with raw clock speeds. Still rate them very highly.

You'll know if you're bottlenecking (assuming you have vsync and any fps limiters off) if the gpu usage is not pegged at 99%.

I still be using vsync even with 120hz. Tbh As long as I can play BF4 with frame rate into 80s I be happy and it play smooth.

I not looking at hitting 120fps all the time. Plus from what I have read about 120hz games still feel much smooth even if the frame rate isn't at 120fps because the display is still updating 120 times a sec.

Decisions decisions. is that £50-60 worth it for the "performance" increase though, I imagine youd get around 5fps increase?

At 1080p its a challenge getting fps below 120 when using ultra tbh. :)

Worth it in my opinion, i did a similar upgrade before i got a second gpu though.
