CF useage in Last Light?

At 1080p its a challenge getting fps below 120 when using ultra tbh. :)

Worth it in my opinion, i did a similar upgrade before i got a second gpu though.

What I worrying about then :D Are theses people who conplaining about bottleneck running the GPU without vsync and expecting 300fps or something? lol

Edit
I not putting any money down till i have the cards running and see what I get. Should get 120fps in Minecraft? :p

Well im sure it will bottleneck in bf3 at 1080p. Expect gpu usage no higher than 80% maybe lower on 64 man maps.

Looking forward to it since we will pretty much have the exact same specs once I get hold of a 2nd HD7950 :D

Correct, it's not that bad, I simulated 4 thread dual 7900 gaming the other day, huge maps on bf3 saw 70-80% utilization on each card with 100% cpu load vs 95-99% on each card with 8 threads at 80%

Is they any Benchmarks I can read? Would just like to see i5 2500k vs i7 2600k or 2700k and BF3 with CF7950
And maybe abit updated like using drivers 13.

Anything for Shankly.

I have two benchmarks pulled from various sites and one user did his own documented testing, im not sure what cpu's he used so its actually rather useless, sorry.

Below i will include the kind of usage you want to see ideally at 1440p Ultra with x4 AA. :D

This was only with BF3 correct?
If possible could you test with any other games such as Metro Last light/Bioshock/Crysis/etc?

Yes, well, I've only tested bf3 so far, will start on the others over the course of the week. It does depend his multihreaded and cpu bound the game engine is too.

I'm now expecting bf4 to be heavier all round, watched a tech demo explaining new features last night, the game basically has its own weather system with wind etc...dictating bullet drop, waves amongst other things with better levels of destruction, so the physics side of things could be a fair bit heavier, which iirc on frostbite is ran from the cpu?

Just checked back in to this thread. Loads of replies, but not one about Last Light!

Seriously, does no one play this game?

I do - and will for you as soon as I get chance, 12 hour shifts and a hungry baby are eating into my gaming time :p

Ha, you just described my life!

:D

Just had a test, i7 3820, HT enabled at 4.75ghz, CF 7970's @ 1010/1375...

Usage both in game and in bench with settings as high as possible (also tried with dumbed down settings, 2xSSAA & medium tess) was averaging 70-80%, it occasionally peaked to 95+% but for the most part was sat around 80%.

Going to fill in a report for this with AMD, a game as demanding as MLL should be using as much GPU resource as possible at all times, especially as fully maxed out @ 1080 only yielded ~40fps.

TL;DR: Its not your cpu its the driver and/or game engine.

So, so far BF3 is the only game that required an i7 to stop a bottleneck with CF/Sli setups?

Correct, though I haven't done much extensive testing. I found some benches from early on in BF3's life that showed swings of up to and over 20fps between HT enabled and disabled on some chips with it.
