Chalk another one up on the list...

Whilst that is true, in 12 months we've seen what I would class as one good, solid exclusive game. I've said on here several times that I think MGS4 will be massively underwhelming, Gran Turimo 5 will be great, FFXIII will be another not as good as VII and VIII, LBP looks boring, HOME is interesting and that the only AAA exclusive that gets me REALLY excited is God of War 3 because that will be awesome.

Though I hope to be proved wrong, past efforts from those game series lead me to believe it's more of the same with efforts four, five and thirteen from those games.

A lot of Xbox360 games do go PC though, but Xbox360 still has Dead Rising and Project Gotham Racing and those are 2 of my favourites ever. It has others, but Dead Rising and PGR are absolutely stellar.

MGS4 - Is hyped beyond belief and will never live up to the hype, I still think it's going to be great though.
GT5 - Just going off prologue, we all know thats going to be great.
FFXIII - Even if its just as good as XII (gameplay wise) then I will be happy, I just want more and more when it comes to FF, they will never make a FF as good as VII which was special, though I'm still holding out for a VII remake on PS3 (That tech engine demo was not released to the public for no reason - SE obviously put a lot of work into it)
LBP - It's looking like I could loose hours on that thing just messing around, we will have to see.
Home - My girls and Mrs will love it, for me personally I'm not too sure.

Resistance 2 is where it will be though, that game sounds so good, just listening to the Insomniac podcasts makes me want it now!

As you know Nokkon I am still contemplating getting another 360, but if I'm being honest there is next to nothing that interests me, I'd rather play a GT than a PGR (though excellent games PGR's Are) Dead Rising 2 I'm assuming will be multi-platform or is it a confirmed exlusive? If I had a 360 I would rush out and buy Lost Odyssey, looks great but it's no FF.

I am still holding off to see what is shown at GDC and E3 before I spend any money.

People keep pushing these big PS3 exclusives,

its because they are excited, i mean there's hardly anything on the MS side i'm interested in this year, maybe one or two, i just feel MS has peaked at the moment, although they probably have not, and the PS3 is better value now even if MS drop their price by £50 across their range i would still say with blu-ray and what looks to be a better catalogue of bigger named games this year that the PS3 looks the better system.

you got to remember as games go 2007 was a stonker for MS and us - possible the best year ever - but in the end did they gain that much from it?

I enjoyed the bikes and was happy they kept them seperate in the Arcade mode, they were done quite well, but I too preferred just using cars.

I think a lot of people are too easily pleased these days.

I think your right, Bioshock, Assassins creed, Mass Effect. All linear boring repetitive pap that the new generation think has exciting and interesting story lines.

I was reading a game mag I picked up the other day, all format mag. They were saying how dissapointing Resistance was. Funny at the time it was supposed to be the gears beater, now it's seen as a dissapointment now all the hype has died down.

I think these days you can out a decent soundtrack on any good looking game and convince the MTV generation ;) they are not playing linear pap.

It just didn't feel natural to me coming up to a bend with 6 bikes in front of my car. I just had this urge to plow through the lot of them. Picking my way through them just didn't seem right :D

I found them woefull to use. I'd rather they kept them out of the next one.

*cough*, I think you'll find I always said that. A lot of PS3 launch owners raved about it, but I think if they looked deep down and were honest, quite a few of them would see how poor it was in comparison to good FPS shooters, it was even more apparent for those with an Xbox360.

I'd disagree with your assessment of Mass Effect and Bioshock. Especially as Mass Effect really isn't linear :p.

You're wrong.

You will find that just never happens. :p

A chimp could do the combat on ME. It wasn't a challenge at all. EVEN Cheets did it without even using the level up points. ;) The combat wasn't even decent. It looked kinda tagged on to break up FMV.

The nerds just love this game because they got to do the deed with a alien, because it's more likely to happen than in real life. :p

Mass Effect will not be remembered in years to come in anything like the same status as Kotor.

I'd disagree (again). All of Biowares games are remembered very, very fondly. Mass Effect will be no different and will, without doubt, vye with Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5, Little Big Planet and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for Game of the Year 2008.

I didn't really understand the hype around any of the PS3 launch games. Motorstorm held my attention for all of about 45 minutes and Resistance, although quite fun, was totally derivative and in no way pushed the genre forward.

The 360's launch line-up has proved to be exceedingly good, with a few of the games still ranking as some of the best of the system (imo).

Why will ME released 2007 be up against those from 2008? ME has been nominated for GOTY for 2007 (dont think it won any?) so why would be up for two years? It was released around the same time as uncharted so does that get 2 goes ?:D

the best thing about gaming right now is that both consoles are reasonably affordable, so the only people who need CHOOSE are those younger folk or those who prioritise other things above gaming. If i didnt spend 100's of pounds a month on high protein foods and supplements (bodybuilding) then id own all three, as it is i only have a 360 and thats plenty. But most people could own all 3 over time, whats a coupla hundred pound in reality? 5 nights out? 2 heavy weekends off? pffft, pocket money tbh

I would agree, although with more content I feel Motorstorm could have been a lot better, but in the end it seemed rushed out :(

I'd have to disagree there, with the exception of Condemed I thought the 360launch titles were either rubbish or extremely average.

COD2 rubbish? PGR3 average? deary me, how can you even like any games if that is what you decide is rubbish or average? Even the likes of GUN and Kameo, I guess you are just joking?

Yeah I agree completely, I bought my first PS3 at UK launch and although Motorstorm was fun at first it becamse very repetitive very quickly and there really wasn't much to the game.

Resistance was quite good fun online but the single player was decidedly average although I regret not finishing it as I hate not finishing games :p I might pick it up on the cheap now and play it again.
