Change of Shift in work

In the future, it's always best to "book" the entire Holliday period off. If shifts change regular, that way management know you won't be in, even though you aren't booking those days off.

In our place, we put a slip in and we just include every day we need off. Management then look at the Rosta and only deduct the days needed from your AL allowance. Well that's the simplistic view. As it depends when you put AL in, as if its close enough they can't change shifts with out our permission.

Well, that sucks.

Grievance procedure is probably the only way forward to be honest, other than taking the hit or gambling with taking sick days.

Disgusting management, to be frank. I can't fathom how people expect their staff to react in situations like this.

She doesn't work in retail by any chance, does she?

Disabled children care worker.

I think i'll have to suggest that to her. Currently she's screwed... Just wanted everyone's opinion to see if her management is being a ****, as i suspected.

I don't think she is going to be there much longer anyway.

You should always book off your full holiday not just the days you are working so this can't happen.

It does look like the management are failing to do their job so I would personally take it to grievence and this would get somebody else to decide on the out come.

Believe me I feel for you I have seen this happen many time and it is harsh.

Please don't take sick or just not turn up this will just agrivate the situation and that action could end up in her job been put on the line.

Try the grievence procedure and see how that goes before you take more drastic action.

If you need any general advice about this type of issue and how to persure it in regards to the grievence procedure go to the acas website. This website is so useful the these instances and does offer some good advice.
