Changes coming to Amazon Prime

I knew but didn't care, I only use it for the deliver, for streaming I use Netflix as it's better.

Unlimited music: Youtube has this for free.
tv: xPlayers have this for free, anything missing you can get from Netflix for less.
downloading of tv/movies: not sure why you would want to when you can stream them...
free photo unlimited storage: Windows has this for free
next day delivery: OCUK has this for free (though if you order books of the internet Amazon is useful).

The reason people sniff at £79 a year is because the should be lower packages available minus the crap that most people will never use.

I can't tell if you're being serious or just trolling. Youtube for music?

Terrible bitrate, need the screen on, doesn't have all the songs on an album, plays 1 song at a time without automatically going to the next one, yeah, it's defacto alright!

YouTube is fine for watching the music video of the newest single but that's about it. Try finding a song not released on single you will get a handy cam phone recording from a concert or a fan upload with lyrics...errrr no thanks.

If one were to make an argument vs spotify or apple music and yet free that you can listen to anywhere, the answer would be Radio.

how good is the music streaming compared to Spotify?

we use netflix here but have been thinking about Prime due to being the same cost per year + added perks.

but i think the content on netflix is what's keeping us with them & the mrs likes it

Well I and many friends have been using it since before spotify/etc existed, I do actually have alternatives like Amazon and Deezer available but just find Youtube works better.

I use youtube for music on a computer fine, all the songs I stumble upon the playlists are usually a bit crap and normally just user created ones. Its annoying having to load the video too, normally just some crap slideshow someone put together. I know you can get it with the screen of with fiddling on an iphone/ipad, don't think it works natively on android.

You can download albums with prime, im on the tube a lot, even though i have virgin Wifi on the underground its nice having some albums that i don't have to stream. But to be fair it have an ipod for any music i want

Also tried out the instant video download the other day on a long train journey. Very handy as i never have a constant connection on that train ride. It worked ok, wished the quality was a bit higher, looked around 720p to me. It was also quite strange how it buffered slightly at some point even though it was downloaded, i had a feeling this might have something to do with the Xray overlay with information of the actors in the scene, which is a nice feature. Once i exited it and reopened it it was fine. I watched a new pilot called sneaky Pete, rather good, i recommend it.

Big fan of the original series on Amazon also, My mums a big Ripper street fan so i share my prime with her so she can watch them fanny about. Watched black sails also, they put a fair bit of dough behind their productions.

Apart from their tax avoiding shenanigans, I can't rate Amazon any Higher.

In all honest I am probably going to have to move away from Youtube as it only offers CD quality and I am starting to like 24bit, but the idea that it's second rate/etc compared to standalone music apps is just the opinions of people who have never used it for that purpose.

I am sure you means of making music play off YouTube videos require more work than search on YouTube App or YouTube webpage and simply press play.

In that case it is hardly "defacto" is it, the majority of the population have no idea what you are talking about. Even I don't know what you are strictly implying to without looking into it and no doubt it is not conventional or a feature built into the site. Instead of saying "wrong" to every one of my points, why don't you give us instructions on how to do it?

Also at, default when a video (I said video because YouTube do not play music without video) finishes, it plays something totally random that is only slightly related to what you last watched, within 3 videos you could be watching a guy dancing to Bon Jovi in the intermission at a Baseball game. It sure does not play the next track off an album !

It would be easier just argue the point by saying Radio, not hack songs of YouTube.

Yes the quality is crap, it sure aren't Redbook, and there is no way you can say it has every song on every album, there is no way you can claim that without knowing every song that has been ever recorded in history, or even know what music I want to listen to and looking for.

Not to mention by default, YouTube compresses everything. Which I am sure you know that, since you seem to be tech savvy and all.

Amazon's streaming video has a very poor selection in my opnion, granted they have a few things in the pipe line such as the new top gear but even then you'd be silly to not use netflix instead.

I wasn't that impressed with Netflix either..

Being allowed to download videos is really handy but isn't perfect. My main annoyance is that we can only download movies using best quality if we connect via wifi. Don't they realise some of us have unlimited data plans?

Amazon Prime price drop to £59 for a one year sub, down from £79. Offer ends 16th May, available for new members only.

Not sure if it's a recent thing either, but you can now officially share the benefits of Prime with another adult, or a couple of kids if you have them...

Yeah I took the offer... I had trialled a while back but was'nt terribly impressed, however that /that/ price it makes a bit more sense...

Using my wife's student account, just finished our 6 month free trail and for £39/year I'll keep with it for the time being I think.

Think that basically means you'll get it cheap for life as long as she can keep her uni email address. I've changed unis and still use my old uni address.

Yep, I'm taking advantage of this as well. Getting 5% off items sold by Amazon themselves as well is another added bonus
