changing down gears..

Wouldnt that destroy the clutch putting it under so much stress =/

Why? (I'm not saying you're wrong because I'm not an expert on the mechanics of cars, I'm just asking)

I don't make a habit of driving like that, but if you get up to the speed you are going to be driving at, in 1st or 2nd, why go through 3rd and 4th before putting it into 5th?

Day to day driving I block shift. If I'm "making progress" down a country lane I'll go down the box in sequence.

I usually change through the gears but don't bring the clutch up until I know im in the gear I want. So when approaching lights or something its:

1) Dip clutch
2) Down to 4th but keep clutch depressed.
3) Down to 3rd/2nd and lift clutch if needed.

If the situation changes, like the lights go green, I bring the clutch up in 4th and accelerate again.
