hey guys just set up my new raid array (3x250gb seagates) and windows has named one of my storage drives as drive C and it wont let me change it please tell me i dont have to format again

If your on XP right-click My Computer and click Manage, click Disk Management and you can right-click-rename there.

You can rename the Storage drive but you wont be renaming the Windows HDD(s).

That gets asked about once per month in here, so basically your stuck with Windows on whatever Driver Letter it is.

I guess you have a Card Reader ?.

Card readers are the usual culprit but do IDE drives not sometimes appear ahead of SATA ones when Windows is allocating letters?

Moral of the story: Disconnect anything which isn't the drive your installing to.

no i have 6 drives all randomly plugged into the motherboards sata sockets after a reformat all seems fine and ive run HD tack and i get 267mb/s :D

On XP yes it can happen on Vista never happened to me, but I aint in habit of using EIDE these days.

My Card Reader messed me up a couple of times in XP but its fine in Vista.
