So after having a side parting for my adult life, I'm looking at having it combed straight back.

Last week at the barbers, after he'd finished clippering the back and sides, he blasted it back with the hair drier to get rid of loose cuttings, and it actually looked pretty good.

I'm 48 and thinning a bit on either side now. With the side parting, the side that is combed over looks good, but the side that is parted lays bare the extent of my receding hairline. When the barber blasted it back, it looked pretty good on both sides.

I've tried replicating the style at home but my hair is too short now, and the parted side has been combed that way for so long it wants to point that way.

I'm going to grow it for a month and then have another go.

Has anyone else done this?

If so, how did you get on?

If anyone wants to take the mickey, you must have a full head of hair.

If your hair is so thin that the barber has nothing left to work with, you're not allowed to poke fun at me :)

Alright Arthur!

My hair grows in every direction so my hair style was pure Ringo (beatles) -when I retired I went for a number one- almost shaved off. Best thing I ever did.
Sat on bench outside the other night with hair trimmer and gave it another good skim. Full head of hair but it's more silver than black.
Have to wear a cap in winter though.
Now I know what the lad over the road has -Broccoli - looks like a tree -tall and thin with load of curly hair on top.

I got to my late 20s and since then (I'm well into my 40s) I've shaved my own hair. So I guess that was my new hair style. But as a baldy I haven't even even thought about it anymore!

Enjoy your new style!

When I was younger I had long hair with a centre parting. Cut it off at 22 years old.

I've now receded a fair bit but not terminally aged 37. Got bored of my side parted floppy fringe and grown it out. What does it look like? A flipping bad combover

It's just about long enough to tie up now but I can't shake the "trying to hide the thinning" look.

I never know wtf to do with my hair. It's curly. I've had it long, short (2 all over), everything in between. I want to grow it long again so have some weird mullet thing going on but it looks like a bird nest or something.
