Hey guys i currently have the asus p8p67 pro. got a b3 gigabyte board coming 2morow just wondered what i need to do to the c300 128gb ssd i got. is it safe to format in the windows setup? if not whats the method required?

Thanks in advance

Nah you wont need to format its the same chipset anyway.

My current SSD has been on a 650i board, a P45 board and the current P67 board and its not kicked up a fuss at all, windows just detected the changes and didnt even ask to be reactivated.

Why wouldn't it be? If you mean in terms of actually safely erasing everything that you could use some sort of safe erase utility. But do you really need to?

Maybe I missed something, but you say you want to re-format the drive to re-install Win 7 for your new motherboard, but don't know whether Windows will do it when you re-install?

If that's the case then it will. It's not like you're on the run from the FBI and need to Nuke the drive. the standard re-format that occurs when you go for a clean install should be OK.
