I bought something online which just haven't turned up. I've tried to get in contact with teh etailer via email and managed to get through once on the phone only to be told it was a receptionist who would have to email someone and call me back....never got a call back obviously.

It was only £30 but its still money....

So what's the process? Do I just ring my back and say what happened? How long does it take to get the money back? Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before I can claim. The purchase was made around the 20th April

Mail Order (Distance) sellers usually have 28 Days to get the goods to you, which isn't the case if you ordered on the 20th.

You do just need to speak to your bank, however you will be able to sort it out far easier if you paid by credit card. They will likely have wanted you to attempt to contact the seller first and possibly wait the 28 days.

Sometimes just telling the retailer you intend to chargeback is enough for them to get off their arses and give a refund.

As above, I had an issue very similar to yours and I paid on credit card. I called my card company and explained the situation. The card company gave me a credit to the value of the sale, then pursued the company and got the money back.

Basically they did the leg work for me :)

It was on a credit card...I guess I should wait 28 days then.

Keep pestering the company anyway just in case, but at least you know you have a safety net to fall back on if all else fails.

If it's a Visa card then your bank won't be able to act until 30 days have passed from the payment date. After 30 days you should contact their chargebacks/disputes department to raise a case with them.

As has already been stated you bank will do most of the leg work, the most you'll need to do will be to fill out a very basic form that your bank will send you. Normally this will ask you to tick a few boxes, sign and date.

I recently bought something for £35 online. Never turned up, no reply from the company (even though they are reputable!), no response from website enquiries and phone calls either.

Called my CC company and had the money back within a couple of weeks from them :)
