Anyone recommend a car with dirt cheap insurance? I'm sending off my provisional tomorrow and i have been quoted at £2800 with a Peugeot 106. 1000cc and 5 doors would be great ;)

Rubbish. You are doing something wrong or you have been nicking cars for years or live in beirut

I hope that was sarcastic?

lol i was, i said i had a full licence:o

£1000 with a Fiesta and 1200 with a Mondeo

And what about when you do get a full licence? Insurance as a provisional licence holder is always a hell of a lot less, and the insurance company will demand the increase in premium when you tell them you've past your test. Unless you acquire 1 NCB, however obviously that'd require you to not pass your test for a year. Probably not ideal...

get a peugeot 206, 1.9 DLX, can pick one up for about £2K with less than 60K on the clock - I just got my gf insured on one, provisional licence, me as named driver, 3rd party fire and theft, £650.

Car is quite nippy, over 50 to the gallon, seems just the job for a new driver (although vis out the back is a bit rubbish!)

His insurance will shoot through the roof as soon as he passes with a Mondeo though. I don't know where people get this idea that they are low insurance because hardly any young people have them. It's rubbish. I pay £2800~ on mine, but it's either that for a Mondeo or £2600~ for a Peugeot 106. Worth the extra £200, but still a fortune. Once you pass, you're going to be charged a ****ing fortune for the first year regardless of what car you have, just simply because you have a car.
