Hi, in need of a cheap but stable and reliable big hdd to store music, and pictures on. 2tb ideally as running out of room for physical ones.

Also, my main one is a seagate 7200.11, and it has to "spool up" sometimes before i can access it (and running win7-64-ultimate on it) and sometimes i hear it "click" and turn off within the pc case.

Is there a fix for this or do i need a new one ?

I just got the Samsung Spinpoint F3 500gb and the 1tb version. A lot of people in these forums love them for their speed and reliability.

Also, the Western Digital drives, the blacks, blues, or greens are very well rated and reliable.

From what you describe, to me, it doesn't seem like your 7200.11 is behaving badly. But to be safe, I'd make sure everything is backed up, then if it does fail, you don't lose anything. You could check Seagate's website for a tool called Seatools which can diagnose disk problems.

Best,
David

That's just power saving spinning your drive down. You can change settings for it via the Power section in the Control Panel.

At the moment the Samsungs and Seagates are your best options.
