Cheap running shoes?

If you're going to actually be running in them I'd advise spending more and save your knees. May be able to get some decent sale ones around £40, but I'd def go to a shop and try them rather than buying online.

Buying cheap running shoes is a false economy. You really need to have them fitted or they'll be ill-fitting and not provide the support you need. I'm sure you can get a pair from a running shop for about 60 quid and they will be significantly better for your feet than cheap, throwaway ones.

Dont do it. Go somewhere like up & running, let them video you on a treadmill and recommend you a trainer. I was in there for over an hour, bought some New Balance high support trainers which are so much better than my old ones.

Cost £80 but ill probably have them for 10 years like my dad has his

10 Years what? I get new running shoes every 4 or 5 months, you wear them out if your running.

Not only that, some have a recommended mileage as well.

I kid you not.

Spend the money save your knees. I'm going with that consensus.

I was doing at least 100 miles a month last year on Reebok £90 DMX's and they just lasted a year.

OP -
Go and get a proper MOT on your feet and running style, let them suggest some shoes for you, try them on, remeber what you like and then check Google for a better price.

You should really get your stride checked at a real running shop to see what type of runner you are (pronated or natural) or you could end up buying the wrong shoes and being put off running for life. I'd never enjoyed running until I got proper shoes and am now comfortably training for my first half marathon.

Another recommendations for saving a bit of dosh to get good trainers. I got a a pair of £80 mizunos from sherunsheruns (now sweatshop). Was one of the best purchases I ever made. Also saved me when I strained my ankle and these were the only shoes I could get my foot in and walk in.

I've found a specialised runner's shop near me that offers video gait analysis so I'll give them a go and see what they recommend.

Cheers guys.

But ... but you're not supposed to follow advice! You do know you posted this in GD, right? Standard protocol is to ask a question you know nothing about and then completely disregard the opinions of those who do know something about the question being asked.

An OP listening to advice? We'll have none of that here! Damn you sir, damn you to hell!

I heard you should be replacing good quality running shoes every 5-600 miles unless I misheard or something.

I recommend a shop called Moti, they provide very good service. :)

For £20-£40 Sportsdirect do loads of running trainers :p and when JD do a sale which is all the time they usually sell some within the £40 range.
