Cheap running shoes?

don't go running without fitted shoes... you are asking for hip knee and feet problems...

if it's just for hanging around street corners or wearing instead of slippers knock yer self out with any 20 quid sale nikes

lol look at all the people that only want the best of the best.

Did you not read the first post?

OP you need the best of the best!

"You need to have your feet sized up and checked and then spend £80 on the running shoes otherwise you are a joke!"

Nevermind about your orginal budget! **** it!

jp_bl_68 probably isn't asking for marathon shoes.. the guy probably wants a pair of running shoes for running around the block or down the gym on a treadmill on occasions.

You people make me sick :p

Unless you are seriously taking up running jp_bl_68?

Of course we read his first post and we can all assume he wants to go running.
If he wants to go running then whether he is training for a marathon or half a mile a day he needs to wear the correct running shoes or else he will end up in trouble.
Running is heavy impact on your joints and I wish I'd listened to people when I was younger because I went out in £10 trainers from the market.
All the posters are only writing from experience.
He can easily end up with £40 running shoes if he follows my advise above.
My running shoes RRP is £90 but last years model can be found online for about £35.
Proper shop > MOT > try some > buy online

I told my wife NOT to buy me running shoes for xmas, so her mum does instead!

£89 on trainers that aren't fitted to me or my running style :(

Ed, search Yell.com for your local area.

I can only iterate what others have said about NOT buying cheap running shoes. Speaking from experience, after a 3 operations to repairs whats left of meniscus tissue around the knee joints, I look back and wish I invested in better trainers.. Although trainer technology has moved on over the last 15 years or so.. Since running is a cheap form of exercises, decent trainers are a very small outlay.. I've also found that some running shops sell unbranded imports which cost the same as branded anyway.. You just don't get the fashionable "tick" at the side.. so what??

when I started running I didn't get fitted. I lost a toe nail, hurt my knees and then I got fitted - world of difference. Don't ignore this advice. Once you know your gait and the level of cushioning you require you can find shoes yourself if you must.

What constitutes as a good shoe test before buying, how do you know if youve picked the right shoe ?

they check your gait and how your foot strikes down when you run and also the flexibility of your toes, as well sa your fit. They give you a shoe with cushioning and support in the right places and to the right degree for you. You know you've picked the right shoe when you don't get unnecessary injuries!

Asics are good trainers and can usually be picked up fairly cheap, but I really would suggest getting gait analysis done so that you know what sort of trainer you need.

So what are "necessary" injuries? :p

Sounds like a headache to me, I think I'd rather just get an exercise bike and save my knee's.

I'm going to start jogging soon, and i was only got to buy a cheap pair of trainers.

Ther is a Up & Running store in Southampton which is about 45 minutes away from where i live so might pop down there and see what they've got.

I recently got some new running shoes as I had been running with normal trainers. There is a big difference. I got properly measured and came away with a pair of Asics at £55. Doesn't have to be mega expensive. OP - take the advice in this thread.
