What's the best upgrade to my signature for 1080P gaming, is it worth getting a 3060 over a 3050 for example and worth upgrading the CPU?

3060 certainly would be nicer but makes one cringe looking at aib prices, you should get 5000 series support added to your board at some point, even a second hand 3600/3700x would be nice upgrade

What games do you play?

You need to upgrade both really, but if you overclocked the CPU then it would be sufficient until you could afford something better that your board supports (like a 3600 or 5600).

The 3050 doesn't really make sense at the £300 odd prices I've seen, because the 6600 and 3060 have come down a lot and they're significantly faster.

A bit of everything, Anno1800, FS2, Factorio mostly just now, according to the son Roblox struggles the most.

Your motherboard does support 5000 series cpu with a bios update but gpu would be the biggest upgrade. Rx 6600 can be had for £300 which would be a monster upgrade then sell your 1050 to fund a new cpu , do you have a budget in mind ?

I bought a RX6600 Mech 2x, however it only powered up long enough to install the drivers, went to re boot and now it won't power up. Put my old 1050 back in, though it is powered up, nothing coming up on the monitor!

I'm still using the Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3 MB.

Also got a Ryzen 5 3600.

Do I need a new MB?

Cheers

I'd try switching outputs on the monitor and double check the cables.

You could also pull the battery / reset the CMOS.

Did you install the 3600 or is that just an aside? If you did, then you might not have a compatible BIOS.

I did install the 3600, was playing up before that though

If you didn't have a compatible BIOS installed it would stop the PC from booting, so that would need resolving.

What's the exact order of when things started playing up and what you've done?

No, I've put the original couple back in, the 6600 still not working though, power to it, fans not kicking in though, son is going to kill me in the morning!!

When do the fans not work? The card has zero fan stop. Have you tried HDMI or DP instead of HDMI or DP?

Quick update, I've updated the BIOS from F5 to F20 and removed the battery to reset CMOS, hope it works in a bit. Do I need to update to the latest BIOS version for the 3600 to work?
