Cheap way to de-sun the conservatory

I think there is a solid roof system you can have fitted to a conservatory though not necessarily cheap and it needs to be able to take the weight. Might also need planning permission. We have an ancient (self built by previous owner) wood frame conservatory and the roof leaks like a sieve. Was thinking of taking off the laminate panels and replacing with OSB and shed felt (either the cheapo stuff from Wilko's or the more expensive torch on type). Not sure if that's a viable solution in the OP's case if the frame is PVC, probably wouldn't take the weight.

Parents had something called conservatory sails fitted in theirs. Maybe something to look at?

Black foamcore board. Easy to cut to the size of the windows and to hold in place with whatever method you want really.

Does act as insulation though, so may be a touch warmer in there.

Light the BBQ ? Guaranteed to bring dark clouds overhead !

Either this or wash the car :D

In seriousness, you can get monitor screens that will take the glare off, or you can erect something that will stop most of the light, but as the light also seems to be directly above you, you're not going to stop everything.

Well today I did this for £40.

Bought white material that is light blocking. Cut the material to each panel and used double sided sticky velcro and attached - so they are easy to remove if need be.

Quite chuffed with myself.

A bit bodge/diy , but 4 hooks , one in each corner, and a black sheet with some eyelets ? Put it up when you want to block the sun from above and the sun from the sides shouldn't be too intense

Good job Ace - was going to suggest blackout lining and double back velcro - but you have beaten me to it.
