Cheapest Conroe system?

Right I have decided I need to save space so need to go small..

Do you think the CS2204 Black Micro ATX would be confortable with Mobo?

I can't seem to find an OcUK friendly link for the case :o

I have limited space where the computer is just now, I need to get rid of this monstrous tower...

I don't know about the case but as long as it says that it supports mATX motherboards then it should fit fine, I would note however that if you are going for a mATX motherboard that the Abit one is rather expensive and doesn't appear to offer any real improvement over the ASRock that I recommended at first. :)

Sorry at the time I dismissed that motherboard as I was looking to keep my case, now I am looking at m-ATX though. Was just using the above as an example. Just compairing prices at the mo :p

Getting half of the rig for a pressy now so case and board will be paid for which is a start

Would definately recommend e6300, artic cooling freezer 7, geil 6400 ultra low latency RAM, gigabyte DS3, overclocked straight to 3ghz without a hitch and running stable.

Ive never overclocked in my life before and all i used was the simple guide in DS3 owners thread, how much easier could it get?

Running CS:S at 1680*1050 all maxed, no problems whatsoever (only bought it yesterday- complete n00b at the game). Have to say though bf2142 looks soo much nicer even at 1280 *1024 (doesnt support widescreen resolutions).

Just as a baseline for price take a look at this:

This is a *baseline* spec only, aimed to provide you with a bottom end for your 'budget'. It will allow a little overclocking but is mainly a very fast 'stock' system and it will run very nice.

Now if you wanna upgrade the mobo or the memory, graphics etc go ahead but keep those figures in the back of your head, £400 for a silent-system-core (cpu/hsf/mobo/VGA/1GBram) is nothing to be sniffed at when your on a budget, and £470 for the 2Gb version :)

DS3 is too big though for what I want now

The 2gb would really make a world of difference in newer games, maybe not so much just in cs:s in your case. But you always have the option to upgrade in future..
